I have done hours of research and if we vote stay in then Junker ect will clamp down immediately and we will have the euro which is a failing currency already plus we will have no protection against flooding the country with immigrants.

Which EU rule stops UK councils from giving former service personnel decent housing?

Not quite what you were hoping for, practical. It's still too close to call.

Soldiers’ SLUMS are not ‘homes fit for heroes’
SOLDIERS and their families are living in damp and rat-infested homes not fit for heroes.

I think we need to get our priorities right.

rosesarered Sat 11-Jun-16 21:54:51

never quite sure what your posts are meant to be btw.

rosesarered Sat 11-Jun-16 21:54:08

daphnedill Sat 11-Jun-16 21:47:59

{grin} {grin} {grin}

Ana and rosesarered,

Are you serious? Or are your posts intended to be light hearted?

rosesarered Sat 11-Jun-16 21:36:02

Football fans of ALL countries cause trouble, stupid just to single out the English fans.That makes them , or a lot of them, thugs.
what do some posters propose, take the right to vote away from anyone without a First from Oxbridge?
Rightly, we dislike our footie fans making a scene anywhere, but need to aknowledge that sadly , there are other countries just as bad.

Ana Sat 11-Jun-16 21:28:20

Eh? Goodness, if there's one thing I don't do it's 'whinge'! As for paranoia, yes it does seem to be rife on certain threads...grin

daphnedill Sat 11-Jun-16 21:19:42

@Jalima

I'm not castigating you at all. I agree with you.

@Ana

Oh dear! Is this Paranoia Celebration Day? No foreigner is 'telling you what to do'. Just don't come whinging when your life is ruled by a bunch of people with the mentality of football hooligans.

Jalima Sat 11-Jun-16 21:02:03

I thought I would get castigated for saying it's just football

'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'

Ana Sat 11-Jun-16 20:53:49

But we're supposed to accept being told what to do by 'foreigners', are we? hmm

daphnedill Sat 11-Jun-16 20:44:18

@Jalima

Exactly!

FWIW, I believe English, Russian and French fans were involved, but it's interesting how it inspires nationalistic offloading of blame.

Ah well! I'm sure these non-expert ambassadors will make fine real ambassadors and we'll have world peace in no time.

I read some tweets blaming the French for their style of riot policing. Errmmm...it's their country. I don't suppose they take too kindly to foreigners telling them to change their style.

Jalima Sat 11-Jun-16 20:34:52

And this is just football!!

(ducks for cover)

Welshwife Sat 11-Jun-16 20:32:27

I don't think the footage this evening showed many police at all but some people were attacking others by kicking when they were in the ground in a vicious manner - I have no idea of the nationalities but the reporter said that a man left on the floor was an injured England fan.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 11-Jun-16 20:31:18

Walking not waking

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 11-Jun-16 20:30:44

The fans should have got themselves out of the way of trouble at the first sign of it happening. Waking away can be a good idea.

Jalima Sat 11-Jun-16 20:17:28

As DH says, never start an argument, but always be prepared to defend yourself. That doesn't mean running away.

Jalima Sat 11-Jun-16 20:16:49

No, Welshwife said that thugs descended on them and they retaliated.
Proper Englishmen turn the other cheek, do they? Good job we haven't done that in the past.

Well done that man, hanging on to his beer, that takes skill!!

daphnedill Sat 11-Jun-16 20:15:17

Oh yeah! The French police just attacked English fans with no provocation whatsoever?

If the English fans had been proper Englishmen, they would have walked away.

One of them (caught on camera) does have a special skill. He managed to put the boot into somebody on the ground while still hanging on to a glass of beer. Eng-er-land! Way to go!

Welshwife Sat 11-Jun-16 20:12:18

In that BBC news footage most of the people were not wearing an easily identifiable team shirt but the English fans were in the main sitting outside a bar when thugs descended upon them pulling down their English flag and attacking them. Naturally they did retaliate.

Jalima Sat 11-Jun-16 20:12:06

Oh dear, I hope everyone realises that this is just the thuggish element; all these 'fans' of all nations will probably be your nightmare next door neighbour at home too.

I doesn't make me ashamed to be British, it just makes me despair of some elements of society, here and abroad.
