A thread for those who are voting OUT of the EU to make it fair

I live in France, as many of you do, my husband is ex government service and draws a pension for both service and OAP. At present he had paid tax in the UK for over 18 years, and declares this to the French Tax system, Both in and out teams have said it will make no difference to UK citizens living in EU countries not being part of the EU. Although the stay in have said pensions will not be increased and medical assistance will cease if we exit. The exit side have said, as per TV debate Mr Gove, "all persons will be treated as they are now with no change at all" - Who is correct???

Quite happy to admit to being an optimist GandTea which is why I will be voting OUT. All the harbingers of doom really annoy me, and yes, JessM, I do know that various business have been promised a share of the windfall, but some of it will go to the NHS and surey some is better than none?

jess, trade protectionism that makes it more expensive for a company to trade from a nearby country not within the EU to one in it does not seem like a good idea to me. It seems to be designed to obstruct rather than to facilitate trading.

However, the good news being that Boris, Gove and IDS will be able to govern [rule?] our country with no constraints from elsewhere and do whatever they think fit; democracy at it's best...hurrah!

I didn't see this, granjura and I'm no fan of KH but I do know that she has recently undergone very serious brain surgery in an attempt to cure her epilepsy so maybe this is why her hair has not fully grown back?

I seriously fear for the future of Britain and the World. It seems likely that we will leave the EU, have Boris as PM and Trump as US president. Not sure this is a situation I would want to live with. I find this all very depressing.

And everyone agrees Ceesnan that if we want our preferential trading with the EU to continue, then we will still have to cough up the money, as does, for instance, Norway which is not in the EU. All this talk of spending money on the NHS has been labelled nonsense by a cross party committee of MPs that included both sides.
And anyone who looks at the accumulating promises of the Leave campaign can see, Ceesnan that if we did suddenly have this windfall, it has now been "promised" to a whole range of different pots.
Bags you've lost me there.

ceesan, if you really think the NHS will get that money, I'm sorry but you are far more optimistic than me.

The EU will not stop Nissan from trading within the EU but if doing it from a country outside the EU tariffs are likely to need to be paid. Nissan sell far more cars in UK than they do in France - so to have an import tariff added would most likely price them far too high. The whole idea of the EU was to make trading between the member states easy and free. Everyone agreeing to the standards and therefore little paperwork needed.
Some companies which traded with European countries before the UK joined remember all the regulations and paperwork needed to import/export items.
A few weeks ago I watched an interview with a French Minister - Emmanuel Macron - explaining (on UK TV) what would happen if UK left the EU. He described it as a club and you paid a fee and for this fee you had advantages. He talked about the position of Switzerland and Norway and said how times had moved in and it would not follow that the. UK would automatically get the same sort of deal. He said how to trade FREELY with the rest of Europe they do pay fees and they accept free movement of people.
I think it is very arrogant of the Brexit camp to think they will just get the trade deal THEY want with Europe when it only takes 10% of their goods whereas the UK sells over 40% of theirs to the EU.
I just hope that there will not be a return to all the barriers that were in place before we joined - going to any other country meant long passport queues, customs checks for normal travellers. There were also limitations as to the amount of money which could be taken out of the country etc. We may also see the diminishing of the cheap air fares across Europe. Michael O'Leary explained on QT the other week how before UK joined the EU he could not fly from UK airports to European ones - but could only operate from airports within the EU - this meant he had to start his flights from Dublin.
All this talk of more trade with China - do you really want that? Much of their produce is nothing like the standard of goods produced in Europe. They do have some questionable methods of trading also - look at the problems with the steel industry now - they are dumping poorer quality steel and unfortunately companies are buying this. Follow it through and the goods made form this steel will be of a much poorer quality so in a couple of years we will all be complaining how things do not last etc etc.Many problems have been found with goods imported from there and many are fake - if their goods were of a high enough quality they would have no need for fake anything but could sell their own products with pride.
We will be at the mercy of other countries we wish to trade with as will need to find markets for the 40% of goods we will no longer be trading freely with the EU - never a good position when your adversary has that sort of information about you!!

I think the amount we give to the EU, after taking into account the rebate and subsidies comes to about £160 million. Well I don't know about anyone else, but I think that £640 million a month would go a long way towards the NHS. Now I'll wait for someone to shoot me down

Referring back to the stuff about Nissan... I think I've decided I'm not in favour of such excessive trade protectionsim as the comments about, and supposedly from, Nissan suggest exist in the EU. I wouldn't blame a company for moving because of rididculous trade protectionism but I'd put any blame that was payable onto the organisation that deserved it, in this case the EU and its trade laws.

I am fed up with the sneering arrogant politicians and remainers who think they are some how superior beings to the mere mortals who dare to even think of voting out. Try living in the real world not some little bubble.

So practical you give me a choice between believing what is written in the Daily Express and what my MP, a hard working, family woman who has always been helpful and an excellent local MP. I'll stick with my MP thanks. Any report from a newspaper whose owner is a huge supporter of UKIP must be question able.

We have threads for that, practical, in chat. If that's all you wanted. If you buy cheap you get cheap. Personally I prefer organic cotton sheets which are never made in China.

thatbags it always is prompt because they sit waiting to pounce. I had decided that people are going to vote what they have decided no matter what so I just did a post about wanting some sheets that were not made in china, hoping someone would say where they had seen some. All innocent but still got pounced on. My meaning was with uk laws and eu laws we still get rubbish.

Re Japanese and oter companies relocating to Europe - this also because there will be tariffs on imports from outside Europe- which would greatly push up the price of goods produced in the UK, if it gets out.

Definitely, I would think, although I don't think GN has that much power or that many votes.

The £350m a week figure is a total mis-representation of the true figure which is less than half that. Yes £350m is conning the British public.
