...mine would be Prince Harry. And this story reminded me why www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-36425394
The Invictus Games is such an achievement and his work in Lesotho is admirable too. You really get the feeling he believes in and is passionate about the charitable work he does.

I was introduced to Princess Anne 12 years ago - she was vile. I'll elaborate if anybody's interested!

Anniebach Fri 03-Jun-16 10:44:28

But Autum Phillips isn't a Royal . If I could choose one out of the married into the windsors it is Katherine Kent

Granny2016 Fri 03-Jun-16 10:48:34

No-nonsense Anne. She refused titles for her children so that they could enjoy a grounded upbringing ,then used her own royal connections to improve the lives of children far less advantaged.
She is an extremely good person.

I think Wills & Harry are doing a great job- bringing monarchy into 21st century. Obviously the Queen is amazing & I have always had a soft spot for Anne- I love watching her at the rugby- she really enjoys it. Zara is very down to earth too.I think we will do just fine going forward with the youngsters.
Sorry but cannot stand Charles who always seems such a spoilt, sulky man with a chip on his shoulder & no time for Camilla either although I have heard she has a great sense of humour- would need it to live with him!

Anniebach Fri 03-Jun-16 12:03:01

Far easier for the younger family members, they have all the benefits but little responsibility to the country . Charles and Ann had to carry out royal duties in their teens . Anne's children only have to turn out for weddings and William and Harry are in premature semi retirement, just popping out when they choose . No comparison on the duties Charles and Anne carried out compared to William and Harry

Anne, hard working and straight talking. I also liked her when she said you don't have to like children but want, and expect them to have a decent life, my thoughts exactly.

LullyDully Fri 03-Jun-16 15:29:26

Feel sorry for Beatrice and Eugene. They seem to miss the boat somehow with the media. I did chuckle at the mobile phone checking at the Queen's concert. How like other youngsters !!!confused

Marmight Fri 03-Jun-16 16:07:14

The Queen, P.P., Harry and Sarah Chatto. The non-royals like Sophie, Autumn, Camilla and even Kate bring some form of normality to a rather weird, extended family! Lindill Many years ago a friend who was very 'horsey' used to mix with P.Anne and her cronies and one day called her 'Anne'. She was very much put in her place 'I am Princess Anne to you'. She was very young, so perhaps things have changed since then. I do think she is very hardworking unlike that useless lump of a brother, Andrew [shriek emoticon]

I like Harry son met him when in forces said he was very friendly I don't feel sorry forAndies two they are part of hangers on . I agree that royal family should be scaled down others should work for a living and I don't understand why they need all these big houses .

AlgeswifeVal Fri 03-Jun-16 16:37:19

Not keen on any of them but I think I would nominate Charles if I really had to.

PRINTMISS Fri 03-Jun-16 16:46:37

I think Charles does a great job, but has difficulty in being understood. He has a dry sense of humour which some of his critics take seriously. Anne of course is brilliant, as are her children. We are lucky to have a the Queen and Prince Philip at the helm. We shall really have to wait and see about William and Harry.

Anniebach Fri 03-Jun-16 17:47:02

I must be the only person in the country who is irritated by William and Harry , time they grew up and did some work

soop Fri 03-Jun-16 17:49:07

Harry. smile

merlotgran Fri 03-Jun-16 17:54:19

DD2 meeting Prince William in 2014. She was smitten!!

Smithy Fri 03-Jun-16 18:03:21

lady Sarah Chatto and the Duchess of Kent

nigglynellie Fri 03-Jun-16 18:27:18

Both the Princes have been in the armed forces, Prince Harry on active service. Prince William is a air ambulance pilot, Prince Harry does a fantastic job for Invictus, and has other charities that he gives hands on support. I think it's a bit tough to say the should 'grow up and do some work'

nigglynellie Fri 03-Jun-16 18:27:49

'they'

nightowl Fri 03-Jun-16 18:42:11

No Anniebach you are not alone. They are no longer boys and I too think it's time they grew up. I feel the family have protected them rather too much following their mother's death - understandable at the time, but perhaps they have become rather spoilt - particularly William.

Falconbird Fri 03-Jun-16 18:57:58

Prince Harry, he is a breath of fresh air and also Sarah Chatto who seems to be a lovely person.

nigglynellie Fri 03-Jun-16 19:14:35

What's Prince William supposed to do? Any ordinary job he were to take would be a security man's nightmare, so really it's only the armed forces well away from danger or a job like air ambulance. He's accused of not performing enough royal duties and in the same breath accused of not having a proper job. Bearing in mind that courtesy of their mother neither William or Harry have to do any job of any sort as she left them more than enough money to live on in their own right. So good for both of them for not sitting back and twiddling their thumbs and at least trying to live as normal a life as possible.

Anniebach Fri 03-Jun-16 20:15:05

Living a normal life? Depends what one considers a normal life I suppose, do millionaires live normal lives

Niggly, he could work more than part time or get off his bum and do as previous generations of his family have done, royal duties. To get to just over thirty and claim he wants to spend time with his family - when asked about doing little work - wouldn't most family men

Marmight Fri 03-Jun-16 20:15:30

Well said Nigglynellie. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't. They will always be criticised whatever they do/don't do, but of course those who criticise are so perfect and know better! Not for all the tea in China would I wish their lives on anyone.

Anniebach Fri 03-Jun-16 20:17:22

As for the invictus games, five days a year , that must exhaust him

Anniebach Fri 03-Jun-16 20:19:50

Hi nightowl, I feel less isolated now

gettingonabit Fri 03-Jun-16 20:32:15

I'm with you on this one too, AnnieBach.

I'd get rid of the lot of 'em tomorrow, personallygrin. That's not in the spirit of the thread, though.

I don't think they'll last much beyond the Queen anyway. Not as they currently are. Maybe in some form or another.
