Abdication?

Well, The Queen now is 90 years old. Do any of you think that she should abdicate? She looked today like she was falling asleep at the church service for her birthday.

Are there any 90 year olds on here still working?

Is it not time for her to put on her tartan slippers, wrap herself in her shawl, sit in her favourite arm chair and watch some daytime tele? Is it not time for her to let the younger (if Charles can be classed as younger if you know what I mean) to take over the lead of the country?

I think I would be quite upset at sending my mother/grandmother out to work at 90 years old.

She'll never win the tennis with a racquet in one hand and a walking stick in the other!

Anniebach Mon 13-Jun-16 12:36:19

Tennis from Queens this week, yippee

Anniebach Mon 13-Jun-16 12:35:24

So i have a chip on my shoulder because I gave my opinion on the queen ? I said nothing nasty, I do not have adoration for the windsors , I do not applauded her for walking up steps aged 90 when all her life she has her own medical team on standby in case she sneezes , I know a lady of 92 who lives in a first floor flat and goes out every day , I know a lady who has walking aids because she had a stroke in her fifties, it's what people do . God help us if queenie has to use a walking stick

Blinking 'eck whatever is the matter with you all? Either go to your rooms and only come out when you've calmed down and can speak nicely to each other or. . . . It's the naughty step/thinking spot for you all!

soop has been on gransnet since it started. Have you never looked at the Soop's Kitchen threads? They have gone through several maximum lots of posts, and are a haven of peace from threads like this where controversial subjects are hammered out, with the hammer often landing on someone's fingers. Being nasty is specifically banned on them. durhamjen clearly rhinks that soop should not be allowed out of the kitchen ghetto.

So she said "Anniebach My goodness. You must have a very nasty chip on your shoulder." after you were nasty about the queen did she? Hardly surprising, and no more outspoken than you had just been in your post. Not something that jusrtifies dj saying something snidey about Soop's kitchen and telling her to stay out of it!

Anniebach Mon 13-Jun-16 11:50:35

Don't want to get involved with the who said what and who stuck in oars, I don't know snoop who suddenly appeared and informed me I had a chip on my shoulder, no one saw this as sticking a oar in, this is such a clique forum , one can post and if one could place a bet could win much money just by betting on who will crop up and have a dig or make a personal comment ,

Elegran Mon 13-Jun-16 11:43:05

Nonnie As soop is too nice to retaliate, others have to "put their oar in" on her behalf.

I don't remember reading such an uncalled-for put-down as duhamjen's to soop in the five years I have been on gransnet - and there have been some right ding-dongs.

I'd say that is what has horrified some of us - soop wasn't engaged in a ding-dong, just making an infrequent visit, and was sent back to the kitchen with her head bitten off. If you think dj is being unfairly picked on, anniebach transfer your attention to soop for a moment. dj is not in need of your sympathy, she is quite capable of dishing out as least as good as she gets, in the interests of "robust debate", aka snippiness.

Nonnie1 Mon 13-Jun-16 11:08:10

I have only been here for a short while but I'm already sick of the bitching.

It's a message forum for goodness sake you guys

Talk about putting people off with the cliquey stuff

Playgrounds come to mind here

Anniebach Mon 13-Jun-16 11:04:42

I do think a few leap on her Jalima ,

Jalima Mon 13-Jun-16 10:26:18

Apologise thatbags?
You can live in hope I suppose.

Silencing Jen anniebach?
hmm

Nonnie1 Mon 13-Jun-16 10:24:20

She won't abdicate - she'll delegate

nigglynellie Mon 13-Jun-16 10:01:51

Whew!! I'm joining soop in her kitchen, if she'll have me! Bye! Bye!

Anniebach Mon 13-Jun-16 09:32:45

Aw sunshine , thank you Alea smile I really need some

thatbags Mon 13-Jun-16 09:16:36

Djen a victim? Rubbish.

Mind you, it is said that most bullies have been bullied themselves.

Alea Mon 13-Jun-16 09:09:38

Good morning Anniebach I hope it is a sunshine y one for you?

thatbags Mon 13-Jun-16 09:07:16

I don't want to silence anyone. There do not exist nicer people than Soop; jen's nasty comment is just that. Nasty. I think she should apologise. Always supposeing she cares anyway.

I'm disgusted.

Anniebach Mon 13-Jun-16 08:57:12

We have more wannabe moderators than moderators grin , a few here would have to seek out another victim if you succeeded in silencing Jen

thatbags Mon 13-Jun-16 08:51:32

^"I almost feel sorry for you. Anyway, time for a G&T and read the Sunday newspaper. Goodnight all."

Hadn't realised that this was the new soop's kitchen.
Better stay out of it.^

Bloody Hell, dj! Just how nasty can you get? shock angry
Shame on you.

Anniebach Mon 13-Jun-16 08:48:47

Alea, been expecting you, good morning

Alea Mon 13-Jun-16 08:38:37

confused
Who is "sticking their oar in" to what?
Who are the " usual trio"?
What was your point anniebach?

Anniebach Mon 13-Jun-16 08:21:24

Elegran may I draw your attention to the post just three above yours? Wouldn't want you to be accused of sticking your oar in would we ? But expect those attacks are reserved by the usual trio for Jen

Elegran Mon 13-Jun-16 07:31:29

"Hadn't realised that this was the new soop's kitchen." I don't imagine soop will be encouraged to post again now she has been banished back to the kitchen. Perhaps it was unwise of her to stick her head above the parapet right in front of durhamjen's soapbox.

Anniebach Sun 12-Jun-16 22:53:17

We disagree again POGS, love of my country has nothing to do with pride , may be for you but not for me

Anniebach Sun 12-Jun-16 22:43:51

Derogatory remarks POGS? Best you do get bothered and bump it yes?

Ana Sun 12-Jun-16 22:39:06

Hadn't realised that this was the new soop's kitchen.

Soop is entitled to read other threads and comment on them, durhamjen. And as her comments were addressed to Annie why stick your oar in?
