The one indisputable FACT in this referendum debate

Like many of us, I prefer to deal in facts, not surmise, assumptions, or what might be, or might not happen. The truth is that neither side have a clear idea of what leaving or remaining in the EU might entail, except for one clear fact.

This is, that if we remain, we will continue to have no control over numbers of immigrants from the EU, entering the country.

We all agree that immigration is a Good Thing, but uncontrollable immigration is another issue completely.

At least the so called project fear by the remain camp is beginning to be correct, so not fear it is in fact - FACT

So never mind the poor who have to cope with rising prices to basics, as long as our exports are buoyant that's OK?

obieone Wed 15-Jun-16 17:07:41

The value of the pound could go up again in a few days time. There is going to be uncertainty either way, which is what markets dont like.
I suspect it is going to take a few weeks for things to be calmer.

The pound going down does have benefits as well, particularly for exports.

Just switched over.

durhamjen Wed 15-Jun-16 17:01:48

It will have a big effect on our pensions as well, whitewave.

durhamjen Wed 15-Jun-16 17:00:50

Anyone else watching the debate on the economic benefits of EU membership on 131 now?

This is an excellent article about immigration.

www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2016/06/15/what-are-we-to-do-about-immigration/

I feel sorry for anyone at the moment who has to interview foreigners looking for work in this country.

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 16:56:25

Sterling has lost 3% of its value over the past 5 days. Quite a large drop, due to Brexit fear. This will have an effect on prices like imports like food, fuel etc They will rise.

House builders - growth falls due to fears of Brexit.

These are FACTS and not speculation.

Another FACT - immigration has had no effect on unemployment

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 16:43:24

I couldn't resist it anya?

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 16:42:09

On that note roastchicken

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 16:41:27

I don't count you in with the 'usual suspects' WW which was why I was surprised to see your silly post. To reply to your last point..most immigrants are coming to work.

There are jobs available as they have proved.

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 16:38:24

OK ...this thread has gone the way of all political threads on GN with the 'usual suspects' using their usual tactics.

I don't have to outline them as everyone else knows exactly what I mean.

Another one bites the dust.

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 16:30:58

Don't know anya but good to know the immigrants haven't had any effect.

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 16:26:27

All those back in work due to benefit changes?

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 16:21:40

?

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 16:18:58

Oh here we go again. Try to be more original Daphne dear.

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 16:15:32

See the immigrants are having absolutely no effect on the unemployment figures whatsoever.

Unemployment at the lowest since halfway through the Labour term of office.

whitewave Wed 15-Jun-16 15:50:07

That's exactly what I thought dd pigtails, navy knickers and gymslips spring to mind.

daphnedill Wed 15-Jun-16 15:37:08

My goodness! I see from this thread that playground bitchiness wasn't left behind in the playground. Not that I can mention any names.

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 14:34:09

Trying to untangle the thoughts behind that somewhat garbled post....please clarify what 'projection' are you talking about? confused

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 14:28:58

Ceesnan wink

rosesarered Wed 15-Jun-16 14:28:18

GG your post about Anya was quite ridiculous. It actually made me laugh, so not all bad then.?
In fact, she was very restrained in only using the word 'tirade'.You do get yourself in a tizzy over nothing.

Gracesgran Wed 15-Jun-16 14:18:49

Gracesgran Wed 15-Jun-16 13:12:48

I did not "accuse Anya of making a personal attack"

Ceesnan Wed 15-Jun-16 14:16:05

Thanks, Anya, was beginning to think it was me being over imaginative! By the way Gracesgran, I didn't think it was more important, just equally so smile

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 14:03:01

PS I'm absolutely certain though if she thought there was a personal attack she'd have reported me by now.

Anya Wed 15-Jun-16 14:00:58

Ceesnan I'm completely baffled too. No, there is nothing on another thread. I've hardly even addressed GG though she does seem to have got out of bed the wrong side today and is hitting out at length and at everyone who doesn't agree with her hmm
