So sad for her husband and children and, if her parents are still alive, how terrible it must be for them. What an evil, evil act.

What a terrible thing to happen. We have some very sick people in our society.

I am so sad to hear what has happened today, a tragic waste of a life. I saw something on Facebook earlier today relating to the eu referendum and the hatred and vitriol shocked me. It's vile and appalling how people react online which whips up aggression in others stopping people with an opposite view from putting it because of probable hateful response from these ignorant and uninformed people. My thoughts and sympathy goes to her family and friends.

This is so terrible. Words fail me.

So sad. I feel sick thinking about this. The national and international political landscape is so depressing and scary. RIP to a lovely lady just doing her job. ?

One of the brightest and the best. I wish I could not believe the hatred that drives such actions but we have seen so much of it in this campaign.

MPs are very vulnerable when they are out and about from people with paranoia - they are so visible and a clear target.

This poor family. It does sound as though she was universally respected in parliament - and so young. Very very sad. How can they protect themselves from random mentally ill people, which is what I am assuming this was? We are often having to ask about the quality of care in the community for those with serious mental health problems.

So so sad.
