The year six boys ( linking arms while taking part in the race and inset, finishing the event together) from Wrawby St Mary's C of E Primary School near Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire, decided to come joint second so that their pal, 11-year-old Rory Kettles (circled, crossing the finish line), could take the spoils on the day. Headteacher Mariclare Potterton said: 'As you can imagine I'm incredibly proud of all the children - it was something the children came up with themselves. It was so emotional, I was so touched.'
