How much of a threat is UKIP

I don't think Farage will go for his seat though, it is not necessarily a UKIP seat but I think Careswell was a popular MP.

Farage will wait his chance in a general election, although that seems not to be likely until 2020 as May being a remainder albeit a tad Brexiter as well ( it's called sitting on the fence) is arguing that she represents all divided Britain.

Clacton is very much a Ukip seat, but you're right - Carswell hung on to it, because he's a popular constituency MP. I think any right-wing Conservative would win it. I suspect Carswell will hang on as an Independent.

Something tells me that Farage is on his way out. (Don't hold me to that! )

Maybe! I think he's being pushed by people just as nasty but more professional, which could be scary.

Carswell is a dreamer, so I'm not worried about him, but the people with the money behind Ukip are worrying.

@Riverwalk That's what worries me. What's their agenda now? We're out of Europe, so where do we go now? I fear that human rights will be next on the hit list and we're heading for more free market ie less social protection. The EU protected the UK from Americanisation of healthcare and workers' rights. I truly hope that the people who voted Leave knew what they were doing.

When Farage stood in the general election in Thanet West the Tory party threw a massive amount of resources at it. This is one of the constituencies in which alleged Tory over-spending is being investigated by the police. Could happen that there is a by-election (eventually...) in which Farage might stand again. He lost by a narrow margin.

I know and it's worrying. There was a lot of tactical voting in Thanet to keep Farage out. The Conservative who won was on the right of the Conservative Party.

Nathan Glll, leader of UKIP in Wales, has announced that he will continue as an MEP despite being elected as an Assembly Member in May.
So he's going to carry on claiming 1/3 of his EU salary (max he's allowed - approx £24k a year) on top of his £65k from the Assembly.. The £24 is similar to the average income in Wales. No shame whatsoever.

It will be interesting to see whether Ukip is still so popular in Wales after a term. By the next election, people will be able to judge their performance.

What next for Farrage, when does his EU salary end, soon I hope. Me big fear is he'll stand in one of the northern towns, devastated by unemployment and no lingering thrall to the Labour Party.

No, they haven't, but they wouldn't if they'd been sold the line that the European Parliament is full of remote 'elites'. They might take a bit more notice when Ukip fails to deliver whatever they've promised the Welsh.

There's an interesting conversation on Guido at the moment. They really have got the knives out for Carswell, who objected to the racism in Farage's poster. It would appear that Carswell is about to be expelled and they want to bring back the racist Godfrey Bloom.

Meanwhile, they support Andrea Leadsom as PM (I wonder how many £25 memberships they can afford) and have decided to delay attacking the Conservatives until a new leader is elected. Thank goodness the parliamentary Conservative party have the final choice.

Arron Banks is going to bankroll Leadsom's campaign and has announced his intention to start a new party without Farage. Hmmmm...

Interesting stuff on here about Andrea Leadsom. She is likely to be Theresa May's chancellor. She has links to tax havens.

The Guardian rates Leadsom's chances. She's being bankrolled by Banks and is Ukip supporters' favourite. She's never shown her true colours, so I don't know what they are. IDS is supporting her, which makes me shudder.
