for Tory leadership. Heaven help us... Not too surprising I suppose.

Maggiemaybe Thu 30-Jun-16 13:20:38

Can we not let Nicky Morgan in on the plan though, please?

GandTea Thu 30-Jun-16 13:25:44

Let's make the selection from the best people, regardless of sex, race, religion, sexual orientation etc. (unless sex is to become mandatory, in which case I'll vote for it)

I wouldn't trust any of the known faces, they're all too good at back stabbing and looking after their own interests. Britain needs someone who will put the country first and look out for the needs of everyone, not just the rich.

My son has just come in and said that Boris isn't standing. Gove is loathed by the opposition voters so would not be seen as the emolient choice. May? Probs.

Sheilasue Thu 30-Jun-16 13:49:53

He is a slimy toad bad enough when he was the Education minister

Blinko Thu 30-Jun-16 14:04:46

Here is some light relief, BoJo has stood down. Hurrah! And I see that Andrea Leadsom is in the frame. Good.

What a back stabbed Michael Gove is - first said he would never stand as PM, then that he would be Boris Johnson's campaign manager, now he has elbowed Boris aside and does want to be in number 10 after all! From personal experience, Boris was an excellent constituency MP, compassionate and caring. As somebody who worked in secondary education for more than 30 years I can say that in any school staff room Gove as Minister for Education was a figure of derision, believed to be both untrustworthy and lacking in basic knowledge of educational matters. He was certainly uncaring when meeting teachers. Still, you get what you vote for, so beware!!!

leemw711 Thu 30-Jun-16 14:10:27

That should have been BACKSTABBER. Sadly nobody ever did backstab Gove...

Going by what dahhnedill wrote at 10.40 am, and other posts, he isn't someone that sounds like good PM material to me.

Maggiemaybe don't forget Angela Merkel and maybe Hilary Clinton on the international stage too. "Here come the girls!"
(Marine Le Pen in France not such a good idea).

Lillie Thu 30-Jun-16 14:47:20

Sorry, I was echoing suzied here.

nannypink1 Thu 30-Jun-16 14:53:39

Well I think we will call agree its interesting times. Things are changing every hr. We need strong leadership in someone we can trust to get the job done to bring the country back. The words chickens headless and headlights in rabbits spring to mind!! On both sides labour and tory. Does anyone in the House of Commons have a plan?

obieone Thu 30-Jun-16 14:56:00

alig99, can you explain more please. To me it is like voting for an animal to go to slaughter, and then trying to get a nice deal for it because you can't.
It doesnt compute.

According to the Times this morning, Boris is disliked by Paul Dacre, the editor of the Daily Mail and Rupert Murdoch the chairman of News Corporation, the parent company of The Times and prefer Michael Gove. So watch the papers who will now support Gove. I would much prefer Theresa May who is much more dignified and above this back stabbing that is going on. I do not trust Gove.

Bez1989 Thu 30-Jun-16 15:33:16

Gove......"He has something of the night about him" as dear Annie Widdecombe said once about another Tory MP.
CRS.....forgotten his name now !

Bez1989 Thu 30-Jun-16 15:35:03

PS.....Theresa May for me every time. sunshine

daphnedill Thu 30-Jun-16 16:00:35

@Bez

Michael Howard, I believe.

HootyMcOwlface Thu 30-Jun-16 16:01:08

Theresa May is just out for herself. she wants to privatise the police and give their work to her husband's company G4S. The whole lot of Tories as far as I am concerned are an absolute bunch of tossers. Heaven help us all.

HootyMcOwlface Thu 30-Jun-16 16:02:54

Who said Nicky Morgan? For goodness sake the woman is a muppet! She has a permanent gormless look on her face.

Midge Thu 30-Jun-16 16:14:21

Come on Lib Dems. Here's your chance to fill the void in the middle ground. Who wants a far right tory government or a Labour Party with no direction

Maggiemaybe Thu 30-Jun-16 16:33:34

Nobody said Nicky Morgan, HootyMcOwlface. Or at least, not in a positive way!

daphnedill Thu 30-Jun-16 16:36:24

I would like to think so, Midge, but I wonder how many grass roots activists they still have. In my area they seem to have disappeared.

Blinko Thu 30-Jun-16 16:58:16

Jeremy Hunt hasn't reappeared has he?

Lostmyglassesxx Thu 30-Jun-16 17:00:25

She does not need a plumber for that leak ! how do you accidentally send an email to a member of the public - this whole thing has been orchestrated from the start I believe

daphnedill Thu 30-Jun-16 17:02:33

@Blinko

No, he hasn't - not as a contender anyway. He's supporting Theresa May.

This really is Hobson's Choice.
