Could Labour 'split'. Tom Watson calls off talks.

It is being reported Labour Deputy Leader Tom Watson has called off 'talks's with the Unions/Len McCluskey over Jeremy Corbyns future and refusal to 'stand down'. He is being reported as saying 'There is no realistic prospect of reaching a compromise'

Obvious signs have been there , (noted from the beginning of Corbyn becoming leader for political anoraks) but is this perhaps a challenge that 'if' it does happen might just 'split' Labour into the Parliamentary Labour Party and another group finally calling themselves 'Momentum' as an official opposition party?

There have been a few voices suggesting a Labour Leadership challenge could happen on Monday 'maybe' they are correct.

Interesting to watch.

Frying pan to fire Anniebach. What Smith is really about-

www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2016/07/entirely-fake-owen-smith/

Anniebach Mon 25-Jul-16 10:07:55

Trisher I will campaign for Smith , in an attempt to get Corbyn out, I have accepted labour will lose the next election , I voted for Corbyn as leader and I made a big mistake, all I can do now is support any move to get him out before he destroys the party. I wish he would start his own momentum party

trisher Mon 25-Jul-16 09:57:15

Anniebach I am beginning to wonder where you are coming from Smith was working as a lobbyist for Amgen until he became an MP in 2010. He supported a report written when he was working for Pfizer
"While at Pfizer in 2005 Smith endorsed a Pfizer-backed report offering NHS patients easier access to private-sector healthcare."
He is a shifty dodgy individual who has been available to lobby for the highest bidder. You ask can Corbyn win an election, I don't know. I do know Smith can't.

Anniebach Mon 25-Jul-16 09:44:00

Beam, I hope and pray you are right . Sadly he will have done much harm to the party first .

Anniebach Mon 25-Jul-16 09:41:11

Jen, I didn't think for a second Corbyn was involved in buying t shirts , it was momentum again, but he knows that the press will pounce on anything . Trisher is against Smith for things he allegedly said twenty years ago

Beammeupscottie Mon 25-Jul-16 09:37:45

AB.
He WILL go, eventually. Corbyn wouldn't jump so a war of attrition is now in progress. He will not last for much longer - so just hang on!

Anniebach Mon 25-Jul-16 09:36:31

Trisher, do you believe Corbyn can win a general election? Yes he will have the support of the far left and unions , will he win seats in middle England ? Here we gained members from the Libs, they are leaving labour because of Corbyn and they fear far left extremists

Anniebach Mon 25-Jul-16 09:31:13

Gonosuch, the party leader should be telling the country this , instead he either voids to or softly and sooooo gently tells us he cares , sod all positive

Gononsuch Mon 25-Jul-16 09:15:43

Anniebach
You say you care, and yet all you do is say the obvious, it's answers and solutions that are needed.

Now tell us where the money is coming from.

trisher Mon 25-Jul-16 09:10:29

If its a party headed by Owen Smith a man who has worked and lobbied for Pfizer and Amgen who spoke against the introduction of generic drugs in the NHS,who has shifted his stance so many times on so many matters it is difficult to know if he has any real principles at all, then it isn't a party I would vote for. If I'm going to have a Tory government I prefer them to actually admit what they are, not pretend they are Labour because they see an opportunity to advance themselves.

Anniebach Mon 25-Jul-16 09:07:32

Gracesgran, you say this isn't about you , we are reaching the end if our lives , it is about saving a party which has done much good and could do more for this country . It's about the vulnerable, the homeless, those who use food banks, who had had their benefits cut and many more who face the same . So it is about me because I care fir these people, I want to keep the NHS, I have grandchildren who will have to live fir years under a Tory government ,siblings who are aging and will suffer under a Tory government . So it isn't about you but it about me because I care

Anniebach Mon 25-Jul-16 08:57:36

Gracesgran, you may find it all pathetic , obviously you have either forgotten or was not involved in the wilderness years , if you had been you would understand the fight to save the party

Anniebach Mon 25-Jul-16 08:54:13

I expect all ages but momentum will be to the fore and thus will cost labour votes . It will be the first election in fifty odd years I will not canvass for , this will be difficult but I will not knock doors or make phone calls and lie.

If a General Election was called, I wonder how many would work for the campaign? Only or mainly the young?

Gracesgran Sun 24-Jul-16 23:41:22

Anniebach Sun 24-Jul-16 23:26:45

You belittled walking into a private office Gracesgran.

Shock horrorshockdid I really? This isn't about me though is it Annie. It isn't actually about you either. It will no doubt all come out in the wash and we will just have to wait and see. As I said I have reached the "plague on both their houses" stage and find it all rather childish and pathetic.

Badenkate Sun 24-Jul-16 23:30:43

Hear, hear Gracesgran. I can't believe this 'discussion' is still going on and on and round and round. It seems to me that everybody would be a lot better for taking a deep breathe and getting a good nights sleep - all you're doing is repeating the same arguments in different forms. Nobody on here really knows what is going on, it's all hearsay.

Anniebach Sun 24-Jul-16 23:26:45

I think I can accept the word if this MP, she has presented her complaint to the speaker . You belittled walking into a private office Gracesgran

You are so wrong, but you wouldn't understand, I don't do agreeing fir the sake of agreeing, I form my own opinions, have my own views, if they are shared by right wing, centre of left wing makes no difference , I t has been upsetting after agreeing with those in the left to change my views, but they are my views and I will not lie to agree with anyone , what is sad is those on the left are venting their spleen at me and the reason? I changed my opinion of Corbyn.

Gracesgran Sun 24-Jul-16 23:08:45

Anniebach Sun 24-Jul-16 18:34:21
So you would walk into a private office Gracesgran in full knowledge it was against any rules?

I have no idea exactly what happened and neither do you Annie and we will not until it has been looked into. You appear to be happy to agree with anyone, even the right wing on GN as long as it attacks Corbyn. What I was saying is I don't care any more; they are all being exceedingly childish in my opinion and, let's face it, it is my opinion and nobody else's weeping, wringing of hands or declaration of support for one clique or another that will attract my vote or loose it and I imagine I am not alone in seeing this behaviour as ridiculous.

Anniebach Sun 24-Jul-16 22:55:44

The shadow leader of the House of Lords has declared she will not support Corbyn. She states he is claiming success for labour successes he had no part in, he even didn't bother to turn up for meetings of much importance such as pensions

Anniebach Sun 24-Jul-16 21:06:47

Devogilla, the MP hadn't vacated the office, she was waiting the chief whip to find her snother office, yet Corbyn , his aid and McDonald didn't know , all they had to do was ask

Anniebach Sun 24-Jul-16 21:02:16

Trisher I am not blaming Corbyn for everything, he is a hypocrite , he is destroying a party, he cannot win a general election for several reasons , the young are not concerned he supported the IRA but many voters cannot forget those years, I agreed with him inviting Sin Fein MP's to Westminster , many do not, he called Hamas friends , he has supported Castro , he said the Falklands should be given to Argentina , but my biggest gripes are him remaining silent whilst one of his own MP's was being heckled by one of his momentum supporters, for not putting any great effort into the remain campaign, for refusing to share a platform with others campaigners but giving one to appearance before an audience whose age he selected and for telling Labour MP's to get behind the party when he voted against his leaders over 500 times .

whitewave Sun 24-Jul-16 21:01:00

This is so weird. I am refusing to read or listen to the nonsense that is the Labour Party at the moment, and reading the last few posts I realise that I haven't a clue what you are all on about!!! Blimey you soon get out of the loop don't you?

Devorgilla Sun 24-Jul-16 20:55:15

Eloethan - great name BTW - there is usually an agreed date to vacate an office. Given that Parliament was coming to an end of this session she probably didn't think it was a big issue. If they wanted her out they could have spoken to her, telephoned her or emailed her. They didn't. We spend literally tens of thousands on security but if you can just walk into anyone's office at will and access whatever you want why bother? We could spend it so much more effectively on social needs if we are all happy to let people access what they want when they want. Security is an issue. Privacy is an issue. Common courtesy to agree a vacation date would seem reasonable to me. I'll still be locking my front door.

trisher Sun 24-Jul-16 20:49:40

Did you witness all the things you are critical about Anniebach?
The point is that politics has always been hard, it's nothing new and blaming Corbyn for it all is just ridiculous.
