GO has resigned from the government
Philip Hammond appointed Chancellor

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 09:03:27

Apparently Hammond is known as a hawk, so it would seem that there will no brake on austerity, particularly as Hammond seems of the opinion that Bexit will cause a bigger downturn than first thought.

I think it was a canny move on the part of Mrs M. Left in the wilderness, a disappointed, even bitter Boris could have caused no end of trouble as loose cannons so often do, even risking him joining UKIP! How much better to give him an important job (overseen by experienced civil servants!) which not only keeps him busy and contented, but where you can keep a weather eye on him!!

Gove gone! I wonder how his wife will report his sacking in the Mail.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 14-Jul-16 10:28:09

Just read the tweet. Excellent.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 14-Jul-16 10:32:00

When I think of Boris in the Foreign Office, I can't help imagining Yes, Minister - poor Bernard! grin

Elegran Thu 14-Jul-16 10:37:59

She has put Boris where she can keep an eye on him, and I don't doubt his civil servants will manage his diary, write his speeches and so on.

Thank goodness no Gove, it would have been daggers drawn in cabinet meetings. Let's hope Nicky Morgan is similarly cast adrift. Now I've thought about it, it seems a clever move on May's part to use Brexiters in key posts, if they don't deliver their promised goods the leave voters will have no one to blame but them.

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 10:41:58

Yo ho

Gove - gone
Morgan - gone
Whittingdale - gone

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 14-Jul-16 10:43:00

Oh I agree Elegran, plus he has to give up his newspaper column worth over £250k a year, so that will hurt too.

Nicky Morgan and John Whittingdale gone too. Looks like Chris Grayling stays in post.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 14-Jul-16 10:44:56

Seriously though, we all know Boris can toe the line and will not play the fool on the international stage.

Badenkate Thu 14-Jul-16 10:56:02

Just got to the stage where I'm enjoying it more and more wink

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 10:57:53

The Brexiters are not going to have an easy ride from anyone. Still lets hope they can put the money where their mouth is.

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 11:08:18

Letwin gone

Anniebach Thu 14-Jul-16 11:08:23

Not confident Boris will suddenly become stable. He has insulted Obama, and there was that poem he wrote mocking - forgotten who - was is PM or president of Turkey?

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 11:09:18

Hopefully the BBC can breath easier

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 11:09:32

And schools!!!

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 11:09:57

Although May like grammars I think.

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 11:11:46

BRILLIANT!!!!! Hunt gone.

AlieOxon Thu 14-Jul-16 11:21:18

Did you see Angela Eagle's reaction to the news of Boris's post !!!
Actually it feels rather like ' you wanted this, you deal with it!'..........doesn't it? and yes, keeping him on a rein.

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 11:30:54

Oh he's semi-gone, still out of health.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 14-Jul-16 11:31:13

Hunt not sacked, being moved?

whitewave Thu 14-Jul-16 11:32:17

I do hope Wollestone gets health

breeze Thu 14-Jul-16 11:33:08

Could've been worse. Could've asked Prince Phillip to do the job!

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 14-Jul-16 11:34:34

Liz Truss up next.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 14-Jul-16 11:38:30

Looks like the sackings are over.
