I dont actually know anything about him. But I think that a person who set up Momentum with apparent such success, needs to be talked about.

She didn't ask a question, she stated that Jonathan Lansman needs to be talked about, almost dictatorial. I'll decide who I 'need' to know about.

nigglynellie Tue 09-Aug-16 13:03:23

Well, you can certainly spot the disrespectful reply!!

Anniebach Tue 09-Aug-16 12:57:13

Try it Daphne, you may be surprised

DaphneBroon Tue 09-Aug-16 12:48:37

Hang on, surely a civil question as posed by obieone in her original and subsequent posts deserves a civil answer

Nope, still haven't spotted the civil question

nigglynellie Tue 09-Aug-16 12:23:04

I'm interested in my grandson learning the guitar, but I'm not intrigued by it!

nigglynellie Tue 09-Aug-16 12:20:43

If you feel interested in somebody and want to find out more about them then starting a discussion on the subject is bound to lead to questions, which is exactly what the opening post was inviting, quite properly, for those who are interested. I'm not a Labour supporter either, but I take an interest in political parties other than the one I support, and at times agree with them. For me, nothing is written in stone, and I am always happy to listen to other points of view which can often be interesting and informative. Everyone is allowed their ideas and opinions, and others can disagree, and agree to disagree, without being unpleasant. We're all thoughtful adults and really should be able to discuss our politics in a thoughtful adult way.

DaphneBroon Tue 09-Aug-16 11:13:37

Does donating or canvassing either in person or by phone give one insights into the Labour Party big guns then?

Anniebach Tue 09-Aug-16 11:03:41

Iam said she canvassed for the party , this is working fir the party, I am secretary of our local branch, I telephone cavassed, I knock doors, I stand at country show stands with a table promoting the party, i donate , this too is working for the party

DaphneBroon Tue 09-Aug-16 10:30:04

Well now, I didn't know iam64 worked for the Labour Party.
Isn't that breaching anonymity?
How do you come by this insider information??

DaphneBroon Tue 09-Aug-16 10:26:07

dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/intriguing

Just for information

DaphneBroon Tue 09-Aug-16 10:23:49

Thanks a bunch aniebach. Not even a Labour supporter, but your knd words have really brightened up my day.
Now nigglynellie would you just point out fir me the question posed in the original post? I seem to have missed it, confused
I don't actually know anything about him. But I think that a person who set up Momentum with apparent such success, needs to be talked about

Anniebach Tue 09-Aug-16 10:16:54

It's Corbyns new , kinder politics at work obieone , Daphne is an example of it

obieone Tue 09-Aug-16 10:08:49

Thanks Anniebach too.

Anniebach Tue 09-Aug-16 09:55:25

Well said niggly, the attack on obieone was uncalled for , it's Corbyns new - kinder politics showing it's true colours

obieone Tue 09-Aug-16 09:55:11

Thanks nigglynellie! smile

nigglynellie Tue 09-Aug-16 09:51:47

Hang on, surely a civil question as posed by obieone in her original and subsequent posts deserves a civil answer. Surely seeking other peoples opinion over anything or anyone is a perfectly acceptable thing to do and not something to be treated with scorn and derision. DB, If you feel the post is ridiculous then why answer it? Nobody makes you! Your replies are just downright rude. Incidentally there is a world of difference between interest and intrigue!

Anniebach Tue 09-Aug-16 09:49:21

True obieone, but we must make exceptions for a select few , Corbyn, McDonald and Co. They are too busy walking on water

obieone Tue 09-Aug-16 09:36:34

Anniebach, Iam64 and several others work for the Labour Party, and know personally, or from a distance, a lot of the Labour Party big guns.

When someone is in politics, their private life is somewhat relevant. Boris gets stripped to shreds on here about his private life for example.

DaphneBroon Tue 09-Aug-16 09:32:42

"During the Labour Party's early years of opposition following the defeat of James Callaghan's Labour government in 1979, Lansman worked as the "chief fixer" for Tony Benn.[4] He was a prominent member of the Campaign for Labour Party Democracy (CLPD) and worked with Benn on his campaign during the 1981 Labour Party deputy leadership election.[5] He was also the Secretary of the Rank and File Mobilising Committee (RFMC), which was the primary campaigning organisation for Benn.[6] In 1981, Lansman "did surprisingly badly"....."
Plenty more on Wikipedia if you can be bothered to look.
What do you mean by "behind the scenes stuff"?? His private life is none of our business.

obieone Tue 09-Aug-16 09:31:20

I dont think intriguing and interesting is the same at all.

obieone Tue 09-Aug-16 09:29:33

No I didnt mean the Freemasons.

I was hoping for some behind the scenes stuff, which I expect some gransnetters have and know about?

DaphneBroon Tue 09-Aug-16 09:22:23

Raised as an Orthodox Jew, he is unlikely to be a Mason however!
Independent school (Highgate) , Clare College, he is clearly an intelligent chap. Strong Zionist sympathies I believe, although not a practising Jew, as he is apparently now an atheist.
Clever, rich, left wing (a former Tony Benn man) , it's all there on Wikipedia!

DaphneBroon Tue 09-Aug-16 09:15:57

There"outside the box" and there's "out of sight of the box!! "

What grounds do you have for suggesting he is "secretive" , obieone, are you suggesting the Freemasons by your allusion to a secretive group I know a bit about ? (BTW. Intriguing and interesting mean the same thing.)
And as for being short of time, with a big family and not retiring for 15 years, what on earth has that got to do with anything?
You seem to spend as much time and energy on GN as most people, and more than many.

petra Tue 09-Aug-16 09:13:48

He smacks of a typical left winger: come the revolution the Rolls Royce is mine.

Jane10 Tue 09-Aug-16 09:03:58

confused
