Traingate

The silliest thing about the Corbyn "Traingate" fiasco is that before the railways were privatised, I often had to sit on the floor toing and froing between Preston and Edinburgh. Sometimes there was no buffet car. And the toilets were often disgusting.

I guess Corbyn didn't travel by train much back then hmm

However, the trains I travelled on usually had more space for luggage than current Virgin trains.

Yes. And the funerals branch. Finger in every pie, the Co-op.

Beammeupscottie Sat 27-Aug-16 12:22:57

Is that the same Co-op with the iffey bank?

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 11:56:49

I know nothing of Islington, they must have a co-op there because Diane Abbot said when they holidayed he would only shop in the Co-op

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 11:54:35

MP Emails are arriving now supporting Smith

Jalima Sat 27-Aug-16 11:50:18

Not just London - Islington!
Although he was brought up in the country

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 11:42:22

POGS Sat 27-Aug-16 10:39:16

At least the Labour Conference is going ahead in September now.

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 10:27:23

I don't like Flanders and Swan, I love em.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Aug-16 10:26:46

Enjoy yer mud. Personally, I'm having a bath! grin

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 10:26:19

My bungalow is built on what was once a branch line , wonder if he will bring the railway back here, they will have to rehouse me then, the fire station is built where the rail station use to be , that will be interesting . And as for the muninciple buses , our bus station was moved twenty miles away to another county. He is very London isn't he

Jalima Sat 27-Aug-16 10:18:39

I like Flanders and Swan

Just because Stephanie Flanders was economics editor of the BBC (?) and they are singing about the stations that closed .....

I still like it anyway grin
I will go and wallow in some mud

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 10:17:36

No Rosesarered, I will say - when , such as WHEN i win the lottery - don't play it, WHEN I move to a house down in the town which will happen WHEN housing dept move me from band three to band one on the waiting list, band three means not a sodding chance , WHEN my vision improves,.

If is too positive , too hopeful grin

Jalima Sat 27-Aug-16 10:15:47

"here is a child that clambers and scrambles,
All by himself and gathering brambles"

Love that bit. These days they'd be chasing Pokemons.

rosesarered Sat 27-Aug-16 10:12:34

That was to Jalima

rosesarered Sat 27-Aug-16 10:11:34

Wasn't it Cuba, surely? grin

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Aug-16 10:11:31

Alright. I'll shut up.

Politics it is then.

Yawn...

Jalima Sat 27-Aug-16 10:11:30

Flanders and Swan sing about all the branch lines that were closed by Marples (although Dr Beeching carried the can).

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 27-Aug-16 10:10:43

At least with the old slow trains you could appreciate the countryside as you went along. These days it whizzes past in a bit of a blur.

wonder if RLS would have written this from a carriage on the no stopping Paddington to Exeter

Jalima Sat 27-Aug-16 10:09:32

Referring back to the OP , perhaps Corbyn did not use the trains in the 'good olde days' - I think he had a motorbike.
Didn't he and Diane Abbott tour round East Germany on a motorbike?
Must have been thrilling.

rosesarered Sat 27-Aug-16 09:59:18

Please use the word IF ab rather than WHEN or some of us may get the screaming ad-dabs.

Anniebach Sat 27-Aug-16 09:55:50

When Corbyn is PM and when he takes control of railways will he still want women only carriages ?

rosesarered Sat 27-Aug-16 09:52:45

Oh, my sweet lord,.......is that the Chattanooga choo-choo? smile

LullyDully Sat 27-Aug-16 08:27:41
