Traingate

The silliest thing about the Corbyn "Traingate" fiasco is that before the railways were privatised, I often had to sit on the floor toing and froing between Preston and Edinburgh. Sometimes there was no buffet car. And the toilets were often disgusting.

I guess Corbyn didn't travel by train much back then hmm

However, the trains I travelled on usually had more space for luggage than current Virgin trains.

(I haven't read the thread, or followed the story much)

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 25-Aug-16 21:13:11

I believe he had to sit on the floor, and that the empty seats on the video were either reserved or he couldn't get to see them because there were so many other expletive standing or sitting on he floor. Good for him, I say. It's disgraceful, the way the trains are so overcrowded. Especially being as the fares are so high.

I quite like Jeremy Corben. smile

Galloway started respect after his expulsion from the Labour party. In the interview I posted he said Michael Foot and Benn fought against his Expuldion in the house and .Vorbyn from outside the house.

I know for sure Michael retired in 1992

POGS my MP has been threatened via his Facebook page, called a backstabbing *** and told he should resign or be de selected. He is an excellent, hard working MP, seen about in the constituency regularly, very active on local issues. His background is parents who worked in mills, he became skilled worker, and came into politics via his union.
Yes, that's right, a right wing, back stabbing ***
What happens when Corbyn wins the leadership election remains to be seen.

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 20:49:02

POGS, he did deny it

POGS Thu 25-Aug-16 20:46:49

Watch this space. There may well be many good Labour MP's deselected and even I find that a travesty.

Anniebach. How can he deny it? Is the Electoral Commission site a hoax?

This sums up the view many have had for months now.

I felt really uncomfortable watching Corbyn reading all those notes, and before I am gunned down yet again I am concerned that he had to prepare in advanced, he even read his notes when speaking of disarmament , he has been on this topic for years, why notes? He needed Shami to pass him notes when he appeared before the select committee, I criticised him for that but to need notes at a hustings

POGS Thu 25-Aug-16 20:40:48

This is George Galloway's take on 'Traingate'.

www.rt.com/uk/357020-galloway-corbyn-traingate-virgin/

I loved these bits:-

Jeremy Corbyn could not find two seats together unreserved on the entire train AND HE IS THE LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION , HE CAN't SIT ON HIS OWN ON A TRAIN. What!.

ONE OF THE PEOPLE WITH HIM WAS HIS WIFE , SO YOUR NOT GOING TO LEAVE YOUR WIFE STANDING AND YOU TAKE THE SEAT. What!

So he couldn’t find a seat, he sat down on the floor, 'SOMEBODY FILMED IT'. Yes, one of his team probably from Momentum and put into the public domain as a 'spin' video for team Corbyn and now they are crying wolf.

As the saying goes, You Couldn't Make It Up.

Iam64 Thu 25-Aug-16 20:40:28

I do hope he isn't parachuted into my constituency when our existing MP is deselected!

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 20:37:02

I posted an interview with George Galloway yesterday , he said whilst Corbyn is leader Respect will not stand in any constituency. He also said he had been speaking to Corbyn about traingate, so they are in close contact. He denied his party had de registered . I wouldn't be at all surprised if he doesn't get back in the party and get selected to stand

petra Thu 25-Aug-16 20:33:08

At least he has enough vests for Siberia grin

Iam64 Thu 25-Aug-16 20:26:47

Jalima - I worked with people who were IMG, SWP, SA then Respect. I'm still friendly with some of them but I wouldn't want them running the country. They have no notion of the will of the majority, it was always, their way or the highway. Yes, the sexism in those left groups was shocking. The women were expected to brew up, look after the children, never complain or challenge the men. Then came the Women's Movement
It does feel like back to the future doesn't it.

Are you interested to know or what do you think about George Galloway?

RESPECT PARTY 'Voluntarily Deregistered' as a Party with the Electoral Commission on the 18th of August 2016.

search.electoralcommission.org.uk/English/Registrations/PP362

Is he 'possibly' returning to the Labour Party with blessing from abover perhaps. No idea.

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 20:10:10

Explains why he avoids hustings and only attends Momentum rallies , how embarrassing that he needs a script and is reading almost every word,

Jalima Thu 25-Aug-16 20:07:17

Mark Serwotka is listed on there;
He caused controversy during a speech at the 1985 Annual Conference of the Civil and Public Services Association when he described part-time workers, many of whom were trade union members, as "Scab Labour". He was later a supporter of the Socialist Alliance and then Respect
Of course, most of those part-time workers were women, bringing up families and holding down a part-time job as well.
Scabs! angry

POGS Thu 25-Aug-16 20:04:04

Corbyn is reading from script when making a statement or debating and it is very noticeable , he is not in a comfort zone by the looks of it.

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 20:03:21

Wrong POGS, some here who wanted to remain claim Corbyn worked hard for the remain campaign - just don't mention his holiday

varian Thu 25-Aug-16 20:01:50

I think it was a pity Harriet Harman did not stand as leader after Gordon Brown stood down.

She is very good at appearing on tv to defend the indefensible whenever the Labour party is doing badly but I cant see her wanting to take on the poisoned challice now.

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 20:00:56

Doesn't Corbyn know Abbot and McDonald are party members . Thanks POGS

POGS Thu 25-Aug-16 19:59:40

Listening to the husting 'live' from Glasgow on BBC News as I type.

For those who have the utmost faith in Corbyn and have been 'adamant' that Brexit should not go ahead I would assume their vote would go to Owen Smith.

POGS Thu 25-Aug-16 19:56:29

labourlist.org/2016/08/momentum-announces-alternative-conference-line-up/

The denial of a 'Party within a Party' will have to stop one day and I have been talking about Momentum from it's inception whilst receiving some quite sarcastic remarks to boot.

_---------

The G4S debacle has been spoken about for a while and it looks like they have had enough of the rhetoric from the top of the Party/NEC.

It could go ahead by using the Police Force, if they are prepared to do it.

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 19:51:45

Jalima, shall we say Harriet is not the happiest of bunnies , she is a tough lady too

It was Angela who started the challenge for leadership and Harriet was first with the emails supporting her

Talking of emails, I have lodged a complaint with H.Q, received the usual vote for me blurb from Corbyn and Smith but the last one from Corbyn was from one of the women who took the party to court, she asked voters to vote for Corbyn because they would be placing a vote for her too has she has been stopped from voting, I asked HQ has she not heard of one member one vote

Anniebach Thu 25-Aug-16 19:42:24

Iam,i have it on good authority Momentum is holding some sort of conference there .

Stephen would like to continue where his Dad finished, come to think of it , Neil and Harriet are very close . Stephen is very quite on this leadership election , mmmmmm

Jalima Thu 25-Aug-16 19:39:25

I have no reason to think of Harriet at all, we have been out doing other things today, no news on.
But she just kept popping into my head as in 'What does Harriet think of all this?'.

Jalima Thu 25-Aug-16 19:38:03

I favour Proxima b myself, it is only 4.2 light years so just far enough.
