It is just totally shit that we have an army and yet we are doing nothing.

Downright evil.

Care in the community? Care international and how they help the Syrian community. Great ethos, and every little helps.

durhamjen Sat 10-Sept-16 15:37:39

Two grandmothers in the link, by the way.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 10-Sept-16 15:47:34

Think about it Luckygirl. Just how are we to blame for the wicked actions of a probable madman? hmm

Sorry dj CBA with any more of your links, or your political posturing.

Click?

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 10-Sept-16 15:49:18

But if you don't stop fucking telling us how we should donate our money, without knowing anything about us, I swear I will gladly get barred for you.

Luckygirl Sat 10-Sept-16 16:09:56

We all prop up a system that exploits the poor; we all turn a blind eye to aspects of racism or anything else that we feel we cannot change. We vote in governments who interfere with other cultures and bomb children in our name, creating hatred and fear for all. I could go on....I do "think about it" all the time and it just induces despair.

I guess dj is just trying to suggest ways that those of us who might be able to afford it could make a difference for those Allepo children.

I think actions need to be taken at a more profound level - like the west ceasing to rely on the arms trade for prosperity.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 10-Sept-16 16:17:58

I'm not talking about patching things up after the awful deeds are done. I'm talking about stopping it. Hope hangs with John Kerry now.

durhamjen Sat 10-Sept-16 16:27:18

So am I, but in the meantime, some people might want to know what we are doing to help families that have had to leave their homes in Syria.
Are you not happy that some people have managed to escape the hellhole that is Syria and are being helped by Care International, as well as other charities?
I do not need to know anything about you, jingl, or anyone else on here.
Did I tell you to donate? I said every little helps. I didn't tell you you had to donate.
I call it serendipity, a lucky coincidence.
I was checking my emails and there was one from Care International.
Some people on here might want to look at it.
Others will not. It's up to you.

durhamjen Sat 10-Sept-16 16:31:16

I agree with you about the arms trade, lucky.
Saudi provides arms to Assad. We provide arms to Saudi.
Between 80 and 90% of Syrians killed have been killed by their own government.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 10-Sept-16 16:32:38

Well, start another thread. This one was simply meant to be about the children. The little girl pumping her arms up and down in pain and frustration, and the young boy with his body covered in bloody wounds. And the choking children.

You are making it about you.

durhamjen Sat 10-Sept-16 16:52:07

Some of us can see connections that you can't, jingl.
Aren't you pleased that some children are not being bombed because they have escaped from Syria?

thatbags Sat 10-Sept-16 17:01:04

Snide.

Holier than thou.

On and on it goes.

durhamjen Sat 10-Sept-16 17:04:09

Not really. Just more honest than some.
The thread was not just about the children. If it was, why say we have an army yet do nothing.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 10-Sept-16 17:05:49

You're baiting now. I'm having none of it.

Riverwalk Sat 10-Sept-16 17:06:41

Saudi provides arms to Assad

Since when? Durhamjen

Ana Sat 10-Sept-16 17:07:08

Yes, leave it jingl. She's not worth it.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 10-Sept-16 17:07:14

Because I want the armies of the western world to help the children. But hopefully, given today's news, it won't be necessary.

obieone Sat 10-Sept-16 17:26:39

I am going to bump the Arms trade thread I started. People on here think things can be done, but on the thread posters didn't.

Anya Sun 11-Sept-16 06:34:26

Not worth it and lacking in humanity.

nigglynellie Sun 11-Sept-16 10:38:42

How can the armies of the west help anyone except to make a bad situation worse? They've tried it before and look what happened!! In any case boots on the ground from the west are not wanted by any side in this conflict. We went into Afghanistan by invitation from their government, Iraq?!!!! interference without any thought of the consequences which were and still are grave. We can't possibly risk that situation again.

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 11-Sept-16 10:56:03

Well let's hope it won't have to come to it. Although more bad news now. They had to get another session in before the ceasefire didn't they. Evil sods.

Jalima Tue 13-Sept-16 16:25:02

Many of us may be helping those who escaped from Syria, but it is the children trapped there , besieged who are the ones this thread is about.

I hope this ceasefire holds, jingls, however too late for many little ones.
I had a report that children are committing suicide there, not enough that they are being killed, gassed, starved because there are no supplies getting through, they are in such despair. sad

I maybe niave but whenever I see hear of children suffering, I wonder why we can't adopt them. I'm 66 and live in a small cottage but I'm damn sure I could give a couple of children a better life. I couldn't have children so I would love a chance to look after some and there must be many more like me.

Jalima Tue 13-Sept-16 20:47:22

Not so simple as that, though, wot sad
And many of them still have siblings, mothers and still fathers though many have been killed.

If we can't get aid in to some of these cities, they can't get out either.
