Sorry, Im68Now, you think a few jobs is worth killing millions?

I feel even more ashamed now.

I was a bit worried looking down that list, trisher, but fortunately for her, mine voted.

Anniebach Fri 28-Oct-16 11:23:48

Jen your post sounds like a threat , to say. Fortunately for her she voted. Leaves the question - and what misfortune would have befallen her if she hadn't voted ?

durhamjen Fri 28-Oct-16 11:27:40

She'd have had a lot of e-mails to reply to, just like trisher's is going to have. What else do you think I meant?

Anniebach Fri 28-Oct-16 11:31:47

If I knew what you meant I wouldn't have asked, it was worded as a threat - fortunately for her she voted, I found that threatening

durhamjen Fri 28-Oct-16 11:32:29

By the way, I know my MP and I like her. It's sad that she's leaving next election.
I have just had a message from her about our local hospital, the one in which Simon Stevens started his NHS career.
She said she has been asking questions since 2011 as she thought the health trust was intent on closing it. She now knows she was right to be worried then, and is determined to make a strong case for keeping it open. She wants us all to join her in the campaign.

Why would I threaten her?

Anniebach Fri 28-Oct-16 11:33:10

Oh ,she would have received lots if emails !

Anniebach Fri 28-Oct-16 11:44:14

I did not say you threatened her

Luckygirl Fri 28-Oct-16 12:03:47

If we manufacture arms then they will be used to kill people - end of. Once we have sold them we know not to whom they might be sold on.

Perhaps we should simply stop manufacturing them.

durhamjen Fri 28-Oct-16 12:25:36

Your post sounds like a threat - it was worded like a threat - I did not say you threatened her.
Semantics, Annie. What did you mean?

durhamjen Fri 28-Oct-16 12:27:17

Exactly, lucky.
We complain about a shortage of engineers in the UK. They could get work in areas other than armaments and warplanes.

trisher Fri 28-Oct-16 13:54:59

Years ago I was very proud of a relative of mine who after graduating refused to work for the company who had funded his university education because they would only offer him a job in the armaments division (they'd sold off everything else). They threatened all sorts of things and only backed off when they realised he had only been 17 when he signed the agreement, so it wasn't legally binding. If only there were more like him!!!

POGS Fri 28-Oct-16 14:24:00

Who do you believe is supplying the Arms to the Houtis in Yemin if not Iran.

Where does Iran get it's Arms ? Russia and China maybe?

I find the politics, in Parliament especially, fascinating . What do I mean by that ? The outrage, the focus on Saudi Arabia and the UK /Western nations Arms deals but the 'silence' in some quarters to shout as loud over Syria and where Assad gets his Arms .

I am not condoning the selling of Arms by any nation. Only a bloody fool would not wish the Arms Trade and use of weapons
was never part of our lives but the sad truth is the sale of Arms is never going to be eradicated.

durhamjen Fri 28-Oct-16 15:18:30

So we just carry on, do we, because everyone else is doing it?

www.caat.org.uk/resources/influence

Why shouldn't it be eradicated?

"A three day review will take place in front of two judges no later than 01 February 2017." - how many innocent people will have been killed or maimed in the meantime I wonder.

It is all such depressing reading.

Anniebach Fri 28-Oct-16 15:42:31

Should not - will not. Spot the difference

durhamjen Fri 28-Oct-16 16:05:13

Switzerland blocked arms exports.

Why can't we?

Russia is no longer a member of the UN Human Rights Council, but Saudi Arabia is.
Doesn't seem right to me. Neither should be.

Apparently they do not tell us what their foreign policy is. So much for open government.

MoD misleading Cable, then lying about it.

Some people did what Boris suggested. I haven't noticed him saying thankyou. Has anyone else?

I have just read that the little girl, Bana, who was tweeting from Aleppo is safely out of East Aleppo.

Here she is with her mother.
