So, apparently he told Mumsnet
I’m totally anti-sugar on health grounds, so eat very few biscuits,” replied Mr Corbyn. “But if forced to accept one, it’s always a pleasure to have a shortbread ???
(How do you "force" someone to eat a biscuit?) hmm
Thank goodness they didn't ask him about cupcakecupcake ?

Shortbread is too posh for a man of the people - he should have a Rich Tea!

Teetime Tue 20-Sep-16 08:50:24

I'd give him a dog biscuit and I wouldn't dream of saying hope he chokes that would be cruel and unfair.

Anniebach Tue 20-Sep-16 08:54:09

How can something forced on one be a pleasure .

Anniebach Tue 20-Sep-16 08:56:04

Don't think I should have asked the above question blush

Riverwalk Tue 20-Sep-16 09:01:12

And the other chap likes Garibaldi.

rosesarered Tue 20-Sep-16 09:03:18

Never trust anyone who doesn't enjoy a biscuit!

Anniebach Tue 20-Sep-16 09:35:38

What other chap .riverwalk?

thatbags Tue 20-Sep-16 09:37:39

He makes jam ergo he is not totally anti-sugar.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 20-Sep-16 09:44:57

Why have they had Jeremy Corbyn on Mumsnet without inviting Gransnetters to join in?

"Forced" in this instance probably means that old fashioned thing, politeness.

I knew I would have something in common with Mr Corbyn. Shortbread biscuits - mmm.

Anniebach! grin

Anniebach Tue 20-Sep-16 09:48:13

Jingle smile I felt a plonker when I realised

nigglynellie Tue 20-Sep-16 09:49:58

Apparently you can make sugarless jam, but although you can artificially thicken it to give it some body,it would be imo bitter and have an acquired taste! Perhaps appropriate?!!!

Rosieroe Tue 20-Sep-16 09:52:01

This man seems very reluctant to give a personal view on anything - even a biscuit! Remember his claim to have no idea who Ant and Dec were? He claims to represent ordinary people and yet declines to say anything that would make him seem like one of the hoi-polloi, as if that's beneath him. I think he's shifty and cannot for the life of me understand his popularity.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 20-Sep-16 09:57:40

Did they have McDonell there as well?! (*riverwalk*)

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 20-Sep-16 09:58:30

( riverwalk )

Riverwalk Tue 20-Sep-16 09:59:46

Where?

thatbags Tue 20-Sep-16 10:00:08

niggly, grin

An American friend gave me the recipe for freezer jam years ago. You do add sugar but far less than usual, which is why it has to be kept in small batches in the freezer. Made with strawberries it was absolutely delicious though.

Anniebach Tue 20-Sep-16 10:01:02

Surely he didn't need McDonald with him? Does he go to the loo with him

thatbags Tue 20-Sep-16 10:01:58

I think stating that one is "totally anti-sugar" is very much a virtue signal: a "see how good I am!" comment. Very daft and trendy battish.

Ana Tue 20-Sep-16 10:08:31

He wouldn't have needed McDonnell because the questions were all submitted in advance - he wasn't put on the spot.

daphnedill Tue 20-Sep-16 10:08:45

I agree with you, thatbags, especially as fruit is packed full of sugar.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 20-Sep-16 10:10:56

Riverwalk you mentioned "the other chap".

Riverwalk Tue 20-Sep-16 10:19:40

Owen Smith - I honestly couldn't think of his name, doesn't make much of an impact.

It was mentioned somewhere online this morning that he likes Garibaldi!

nigglynellie Tue 20-Sep-16 10:25:55

Oh right thatbags. I found a recipe for blackberry jam, without any added sugar! No idea of the taste, but it didn't sound as if it would be very nice!

DaphneBroon Tue 20-Sep-16 10:26:06

The biscuit or the politician? grin
