What i think is wrong is attacks on MP's who attended grammer schools, no child is responsible for their schooling

Tony Blair's sons went to the Oratory School after leaving their Primary, as did Harriet Harmen's children Their daughter went (I think) to a Convent School. Nothing wrong with any of it, but........?!!

IM68, I know two of his sons went to R C church schools, can't remember where his daughter went to, I would think church school like her brothers

My so called 'unpleasant' post Ana was merely repeating things back to Day6 that she had said of others . It is Interesting that you feel you may be offended but only on behalf of those whose political views you agree with. Perhaps if the group who come on tbe political threads just to make personal remarks, which really have nothing to do with the subject, stopped doing that now they realise how 'unpleasant' they are being and how they do not like it when the tables are turned, they could stop doing it. It would make a nice change.

I am not sure the reintroduction of Grammer will be a goer as I don't think Tm will have a majority. Tory back benches aren't keen.

Only where they send their children to School ab! No doubt there are plenty of other examples on all sides that fit the bill! But it was the choice of education for Labour members children that I was referring to, and I don't think I need to name them, there are just too many!!

No, I am not. That was YOUR deduction gracesgran. You pick bits out, like the bit highlighted above, with no context at all and use them to have a go at the poster and not the post.

Let me clarify it for you;

a) "I'd like to think my views are just as valid." It's a statement that even if different from others, they can be aired. They are valid. (Just the same as views from other posters)

What on earth is your objection to that?

That was another statement of fact from me, and not in the least accusatory. But you attack.

From that simple sentence YOU surmise I am accusing others of NOT holding heartfelt views when all I am doing is saying (almost as an apology) that my offerings aren't of the studied political wisdom variety, but out-pourings of all I feel.

I haven't accused anyone at all of being less sincere. I am sure all those involved in political debate hold heartfelt views, yet you have to take posts apart sentence by sentence and find fault.

And yes, I am aware doing just that now in reply, mainly to highlight your methods of attack.

I am against grammer schools, to make a child feel a failure thought one exam is brutal. There are X number of places in grammer schools, children who have received private tuition have an advantage over children who don't receive private tuition therefore there will be more children from affluent families taking the X number of places and the children who didn't receive the extra tuition will feel failures

I am baffled why English schools still put children of mixed ability into one class , here has their class for registration but then they take lessons with children of the same academic level. A child can be in set 1 for maths, 2 for English, 1 for biology , 3 for chemistry etc, when they reach the set standard they move up a set , if they are struggling they move down a set and donut goes on throughout the school year .

Many children were damaged because of that wretched 11+

And no, Day6, grammar schools didn't work for the vast majority of individuals or for the country as a whole.

Comprehensives tend to set, not stream. They also have the advantage of allowing children to meet others of different abilities socially. No, comprehensives don't disadvantage nearly every child and I challenge you to come up with some evidence-based facts.

If you'd care to supply your cousin's contact details, I'll put him in touch with a number of comprehensive-educated CEOs. Ha ha!

Niggly, not fair to claim most Labour politicians are hypocrites , in all parties there is a mixture . Unless you personally know most of the labour politicians , if so name those you know to be hypocrites

Me too as you do reflect my own opinions and feelings and articulate them so much better than I can, especially your reflections on schools. As you say Diane Abbott, an arch hypocrite on that particular subject as are most Labour politicians! Don't do as I do comes to mind!
