All those countries (in Scandinavia for example)
where services and welfare provision are the envy of the world, there is high taxation. The population regard it as a reasonable price to pay for good welfare provision. It is all about mindset and we are bad at accepting that proper services come at a price. As lng as we hold on to this fantasy, then the NHS, schools, parental leave pay etc. will lag behind.
