Jeremy and the future

Although this thread is entitled Jeremy and the future, actually, I think he has no future, except to be remembered for ruining the Labour Party.

If the Labour Party under Corbyn and McDonnell ever comes to power ( unlikely) we will have to hope that they are less shambolic than they are now at running things.

nothing too wrong at the moment with our economy and almost full employment and yes, the NHS still free at the point of use, why do some so enjoy the gloom and doom? we are doing so much better than very many countries in Europe.So no, actually, I am not having a laugh.if there are so many ways in which the taxes of the wealthy could go up more than at present, why didn't the last Labour Government bring these ways to fruition?

His meddling in Clive Lewis's speech today made the news though - could it be that Corbyn is ultimately going to have to back down on his unilateral disarmament commitment stance?

I enjoyed Corbyn putting Andrew Marr right about the fact that it wasn't Labour's fault that the crash happened in 2008.
He even stuck up for Blair and Brown. Not sure if it got in any of the papers, though.

It just shows how successful the media are that they have persuaded some right-wing posters to believe the Tories have managed the debt and the deficit and that austerity has achieved anything positive - unless you think the rich getting richer is positive or possibly dividends being paid by raiding the pension fund or even running companies like Victorian workhouses or, of course taking money from the poor and disabled - these 'shirkers'must know their place after all. Ah yes, the Cons have done so much for us ...

Our economy is good?
Tell that to the millions in poverty, to those who are still going to foodbanks.
Obviously their own faults for not trying hard enough.

Have you been watching about Concentrix, the company that has been stopping people's tax credits, and having to keep suicidal people talking on the phone until the police arrive?
It needed a whistleblower to realise that something was wrong with that. The company said it stuck to HMRC rules.

How on earth do work out that taxes need to go up across the board? There are many ways taxes could be structured so that the wealthiest pay most.

Are you having a laugh? Our economy really isn't good and our NHS is offering ever few services.

There has never been a better time for the government to borrow money. Interest rates are low and asset-holders don't know what to do with their money. Higher wages result in increased spending, both of which mean a higher tax take. Wealth in the UK is undertaxed.

It's ironic that people love their country when it comes to the referendum, but not when it comes to the wealthy paying their way.

Our economy is good djen and our NHS is free at the point of use.Not all is hunky dory in Scaninavian countries, and it's not too bad here in the UK, however black some people enjoy painting it.

Living wage is £8.40, £9.20 in London.

NHS has got nothing to do with it, either.
The NHS has difficulties because our government does not want a Health service free at the point of use paid for like those in Scandinavian countries.
Most of them are paid out of taxes, some nationally and some locally.
Every country has 100% taxes and can use those in whichever way the government of the day decides. Our government uses less of its income to pay for the NHS than any Scandinavian country does, because they see the health of their population to be important.

The Conservatives have already brought out this policy of paying a higher wage per hour, so what's new?

If taxes go up, it will be across the board, middle income and lower income families will pay the most, simply because there are more of them which makes up the bulk of

our taxes.The very wealthy are a minority and are already paying a high rate of tax.

Just because a country has a small population doesn't mean they have high salaries.
They have to produce the goods and services to be able to afford those salaries.

If we increased the living wage in this country so that those who were at the bottom of the pay grade earned more, more money would be spent in this country and our economy would be as good as that of Denmark and Sweden.
Unfortunately, those who have the most money do not wish to even things out by paying more taxes.

we cannot do the same here, too many people needing NHS services.

As I just said..... Small population and high salaries.

Size of population doesn't matter.
What matters is people being willing to and paying their taxes.
In Scandinavian countries there is not such a big difference between top salaries and bottom salaries.
In other words they care more for each other.

There may well be high taxation in Scandi countries, also very high salaries and a samll population to be taken care of ( compared to here.)
