All those countries (in Scandinavia for example)
where services and welfare provision are the envy of the world, there is high taxation. The population regard it as a reasonable price to pay for good welfare provision. It is all about mindset and we are bad at accepting that proper services come at a price. As lng as we hold on to this fantasy, then the NHS, schools, parental leave pay etc. will lag behind.

Just reading that The Tories have borrowed more in 3 years than Labour did in 13 (Office of National Statistics) . It is always better to find out the facts rather than just quote the right wing led media .

And who knows what will be a 'decent wage' by 2020?

An American at the moment talking to the Labour conference has said it's good to meet the next Prime Minister of the UK.
He is the CEO of the Fight for $15 group to raise wages in the USA. He said that Corbyn and McDonnell have been with him from the start to get Starbuck's workers a decent wage.

No £9.50 by the time of the next election, then £10 after. Inflation etc will see to that. That's why it's no big deal.

Last time I looked it was £9.00 p.h. by 2020

Don't get too wound up about the £10 as the Tories are proposing the same thing after 2020 - it isn't something to get terribly excited about

Perhaps that is what is meant by The Circle Of Life....

So no one will be any better off by earning £10 per hour anyway...

Apparently, by borrowing shed loads of money and putting up taxes, N.I. And council tax.

As long as they're credible. It's all very well saying they'll introduce a living wage of £10 p.h. etc. but we need to know how all these wonderful proposals are to be financed.

I think that new Labour is the reason we do not have a credible opposition now - the 3 parties became almost indistinguishable and the electorate were left with no real choices. If Corbyn can propose policies that make Labour clearly different from the Tories then it will be good for democracy.

Well I have voted Labour for over 40 years but no more- Corbyn is so far left he is coming round on the right- not for me I am hoping something else will happen- bring back New Labour.

Therein lies the problem ww as Corbyn cannot act like an opposition ( which is why he is so opposed by so very many Labour MP's!)

I really want Jeremy to step up to the plate now and bring back some of the 'doubters' into the fold. I still have this niggling doubt which I'm hoping he will dispel and become the leader the Labour Party and this country need.

Yes time to start listing Labour policy and positive stuff.

Definitely time to act like an opposition
