As I made a mistake and posted in 'Brexit, power to the people' - here is Brexit4.

I know some of you don't like 'experts' or their opinions, but I do urge all to listen to this man again, from Liverpool University, calmly and expertly explaining what the single market is, and how it does work

"Do you know a single xenophobe who voted to remain, because I don't.
And don't tell me you don't know any xenophobes because I don't believe you."

"Do you know a single xenophobe who voted to remain, because I don't."

Yes you do ME.!

I voted Remain but according to some posters the fact I believe in restricting the number of immigrants , control of immigration numbers , makes me a xenophobic racist in their eyes, yours included.

durhamjen Sun 23-Oct-16 22:58:02

"Strangely enough you are the first person to admit to being a xenophobe. Why are you a xenophobe? What do you fear from strangers?"
-

That will teach me to use ' sarcasm ' to try and make a point. confused. Surprised you took my words so literally durhamjen you usually don't give my posts so much credence.

I guess I have to hope others read my words 'ACCORDING TO SOME POSTERS' ' not as an admission as you obviously did but as a pointer to the fact I was eluding to some posters will not be bothered whether or not anybody voted Remain or Leave if they say they believe in immigration control and not an 'open door' policy they deserve to be called a xenophobe, a racist irrespective of the referendum vote.

Hey ho .

rosesarered Mon 24-Oct-16 21:20:33

grin some posters are very literal POGS

granjura Mon 24-Oct-16 21:26:42

It may not- it won't change the fact that you can't come up with any of the lies several of you mentioned here on GN, suposedly made by remainers.

Liars, call them fraudsters, especially politicians, should be held to account- so I am proud to support his young man:

I thought a xenophobe was someone unduly fearful of foreigners and all things foreign - not 'strangers'.

Leave

'Let's give the NHS the 350 m the EU takes every week' ...

Remain

'The Treasury thinks Brexit would make you £4,300 worse off a year'.

Leave

'Nobody said a vote for Leave could mean leaving the Single Market'

Remain

Cameron, Osborne, Give, Leadsom, Uncle Tom Cobley and all said so many times this could happen.

I wish you'd make your mind up, POGS. Can't you decide whether you're a xenophobe or not?

Ana, a xenophobe is someone who fears foreigners or strangers, either can do.

POGS Mon 24-Oct-16 22:08:36

Durhamjen

Yes I know the answer is NO.

You just don't understand sarcasm although you are usually pretty good at dishing it out.

You believe what you want my dear . Hey ho.

Ana Mon 24-Oct-16 22:09:25

One meaning is rather different to the other, though. And on this thread, xenophobic always means 'anti-foreigners'.

durhamjen Mon 24-Oct-16 22:15:43

I have just heard Theresa May say that there is no suggestion of a hard Brexit whatsoever. It was on the news.

Are foreigners not strangers, Ana, particularly as we don't want them here?
Those who voted Brexit want foreigners to stay strangers.

Ana Mon 24-Oct-16 22:24:03

particularly as we don't want them here

Really? 'We'? You do realise you're including yourself there...

(don't bother replying, it's all getting beyond tedious)

nigglynellie Mon 24-Oct-16 22:35:37

FGS, it was perfectly obvious that POGs was being sarcastic! To take what she said literally is just pathetic. Her point was I believe, that someone even talking/worrying about immigration makes that person a racist in certain peoples opinion which is clearly idiotic.

durhamjen Mon 24-Oct-16 22:37:30

Well, we do keep getting told we should just get on with it and agree with the majority. That's why I said we, the British people who have been highjacked by a minority.

When is a hard Brexit not a hard Brexit? When you don't know what you want? Or how to get it?

'Mr Tyrie said: “The Prime Minister has a very difficult job on Brexit but the Government’s policy of saying as little as possible is going to be increasingly unsustainable.

“The vacuum is already being filled by leaks not from the [European] Commission but from her own Cabinet Brexit committee colleagues.”

He added: “Does the Prime Minister accept that unless the Government can provide at least some clarity about its direction of travel soon, many financial and other businesses which have been in touch with me about this will respond to the uncertainty, plan for the worst and that that will be at considerable cost to the UK?” '

nigglynellie Mon 24-Oct-16 22:38:45

'Those who voted brexit want foreigners to remain strangers?' Another ridiculous comment!

durhamjen Mon 24-Oct-16 22:54:33

It's not just the Walloons who won't sign up to CETA.

The Brussels regional government is refusing to sign up to it.

How do you want your Brexit?

Luckylegs9 Tue 25-Oct-16 07:11:29

Duramhamjen, it is hard to take your comments seriously. To say the remain have been hijacked by the minority? Impossible. Brexit does not mean we hate strangers, what a ridiculous statement. restrict the numbers coming and they should integrate and learn and speak our language. Brexit is about making our own laws, not some beaurocrat in Belgium who doesn't know us deciding for us. Taking responsibility whilst still keeping our European friends and doing business with them. All do able. No good forever winging about how unfair it all is, it is how it is, we are leaving, because the Majority, not the minority voted for it. If the minority did not take the vote seriously or couldn't be bothered they are hardly a loss to anyone. I have the upmost respect for all the people that take these strangers as you put it, into their homes into their spare bedroom, giving them a chance. To want a child of yours that works hard and yet cannot find a place to live is in my view a priority.

nigglynellie Tue 25-Oct-16 07:12:49

Trouble with you dj is that you are always full of criticism, but never offer any solutions. Perhaps you can tell us how exactly you would resolve all the many short comings of both this and previous governments including a solution for NI and particularly Scotland? I'm sure that there are several people on here who would love to know your plan and how it would be funded, You obviously must have one bearing in mind your constant carping.

nigglynellie Tue 25-Oct-16 07:24:43

I totally agree with your post Luckylegs. Perhaps it will answer granjura's question as to why people voted for Brexit.

daphnedill Tue 25-Oct-16 07:36:09

I really don't understand your logic about why people voted for Brexit, niggly. Maybe you could talk me through it.

daphnedill Tue 25-Oct-16 07:40:21

Luckylegs, the UK was always free to make its own laws and reject/veto the EU ones it didn't like. Bureaucrats in Brussels weren't even responsible for making the laws. The democratically elected MEPs made the laws and the UK government was free to adopt them.

Which laws would you like to repeal?

daphnedill Tue 25-Oct-16 07:41:59

Why the impatience (FGS...pathetic), niggly? It's no wonder people don't post here much any more.

Ceesnan Tue 25-Oct-16 08:29:16

Surely one of the lies by the Remoaners was the one by George Osborne saying that there would have to be an immediate emergency budget? Still waiting.....

Welshwife Tue 25-Oct-16 08:38:35

Ah yes! BUT George lost his job so did/could not put that idea into practise! Maybe if Cameron had remained we would have had a budget.

nigglynellie Tue 25-Oct-16 08:42:07

I think you'll find people's reluctance to post has little or nothing to do with me!!!! Remember the virtual abuse ab was subjected to? I think even you dd will agree that that was nothing to do with me!!!!
