As I made a mistake and posted in 'Brexit, power to the people' - here is Brexit4.

I know some of you don't like 'experts' or their opinions, but I do urge all to listen to this man again, from Liverpool University, calmly and expertly explaining what the single market is, and how it does work

rosesarered Thu 20-Oct-16 08:52:14

MaizieD Thu 20-Oct-16 08:48:46

Interesting blog here which has, I think, a direct bearing on this ill tempered discussion

Trigger warning. It's by a lawyer so don't read it if you're still anti experts...

daphnedill Thu 20-Oct-16 08:45:47

Who's 'we', petra? Not the country.

suzied Thu 20-Oct-16 08:40:33

I didn't make the term up...

rosesarered Thu 20-Oct-16 08:32:03

Lowering the tone Suzied aren't you? you know we are all easily shocked knitting grannies on here.

petra Thu 20-Oct-16 08:28:15

suzied call us what you like. It still puts a smile on my face when I think of that wonderful morning, June 24th when I knew we had won.

suzied Thu 20-Oct-16 06:45:30

As well as bemoaners there are plenty of brexshitters ( all will be wonderful sometime in the distant future....)

norose4 Wed 19-Oct-16 23:45:01

Ahh thanks rosesarered much appreciated ?Looking forward to joining in some more topics

rosesarered Wed 19-Oct-16 23:38:29

Welcome to the forum norose and you may have some of my red roses.smile??

rosesarered Wed 19-Oct-16 23:36:04

Right Maizie so we all have a right to our very different views hey?

norose4 Wed 19-Oct-16 23:34:31

I will stick with the strong worded debates rosesarered &toughen up a bit??especially as mentioned I can't knit & I it hate it cos I wish I could !

MaizieD Wed 19-Oct-16 23:34:16

Perhaps ( just perhaps) some of us think that regaining national sovereignty, and being out of the EU is worth it

And it is abundantly clear that some of us don't think it's worth it. And telling people who haven't voted for it, and who are already losing badly because of it, that they are moaning, that no-one has any sympathy for them, that it'll be alright in some unquantifiably distant future, that they should work to make it a success, that they should just get on with it, etc. etc.is really just adding insult to injury.

rosesarered Wed 19-Oct-16 23:32:05

I made a Dr Who scarf for DSIL ( it almost went down to his feet, he wears it around the house when feeling cold.)

rosesarered Wed 19-Oct-16 23:30:25

Yes, scarves are all I can manage too! grin

norose4 Wed 19-Oct-16 23:27:28

Sadly I can't knit either lol ?

gillybob Wed 19-Oct-16 23:25:21

Well I could possibly manage a scarf.

norose4 Wed 19-Oct-16 23:25:16

Ahh thanks Gillybob, I'm sure I will get the hang of it, the brexit /remain vote certainly stirred up strong feelings opinions in everyone!

gillybob Wed 19-Oct-16 23:24:27

Except that I can't knit roses or I would be doing something useful instead of wasting all my time on this bloomin' forum grin

rosesarered Wed 19-Oct-16 23:20:02

We should all be knitting nanas ( like the ones in the cereal ad )grin Strong topics bring strong feelings, but there are plenty of lighter threads to look at.I recommend all the games.

gillybob Wed 19-Oct-16 23:16:16

As the saying goes, all human life is here

Welcome norose4 There are some nicer milder threads I promise.

norose4 Wed 19-Oct-16 23:02:33

Wow!fairly new to Gransnet, wasn't expecting such nastiness re other people's opinions &thoughts , not very good examples being set by some grannies!!!

rosesarered Wed 19-Oct-16 22:28:18

Perhaps ( just perhaps) some of us think that regaining national sovereignty, and being out of the EU is worth it. Remember that this is in the short term, and we have to look at the long term for the UK. All tosh about 'hard hearts' is sentiment run riot, and really, let's face it , an excuse to insult anyone who voted to Leave the EU.

rosesarered Wed 19-Oct-16 22:22:05

Yes, there's a lot of bemoaning going on.hmm
