Trump. How could all those people vote for him?
Ochone ochone (Gaelic lamentation)

Beammeupscottie Wed 09-Nov-16 13:32:34

If God has chosen Trump, then we are well on the way to becoming a Godless Society.

This, as Michael Moore predicted, was a big FU to the system, wasn't it?

What with Hillary and her 'deplorables' and corruption, the balance was always dodgy. I feel for Americans. What real choice did they have? Trump is vile. I cannot see Hillary Clinton as a female role model, nor is she a woman I could truly support. She was the lesser of two evils though, imo. Trump's back-pedalling in his victory speech had me squirming. He is not a politician, but perhaps the world is waiting for someone so politically uncorrect to rock the boat? He has been democratically elected. The people have spoken.

MaizieD Wed 09-Nov-16 13:27:11

Sorry, Synonymous, but US 'Christianity' tends to be of the fundamentalist kind that scares the life out of me. and the thought that God has selected Donald Trump as the executor of his purpose is mind boggling.

rosesarered Wed 09-Nov-16 13:25:36

No, I doubt very much that his parents were KKK members, and the American poster on here ( no Trump fan herself) says not.

ExaltedWombat Wed 09-Nov-16 13:23:17

Remember the fuss when America elected a movie actor as president? He wasn't too bad.
Trump has used the techniques of Dale Carnegie to get elected rather than those of Churchill (though Winston wasn't averse to a bit of rabble-rousing rhetoric at times). Maybe he's cleverer than we think.
Were both his parents REALLY KKK members?

langelei Wed 09-Nov-16 13:22:23

absolutely APPALLED

MaizieD Wed 09-Nov-16 13:21:26

Remember Obama said change is coming but he abjectly failed to deliver. He allowed himself to get bogged down in the White House political machine and failed to win over Congress or the Senate.

This has been the fate of US Presidents of a different party from the majority party in Congress. The Founding Fathers copied the British constitution but made the 'mistake' of separating the Executive (the President) from the majority party in the Legislature. What they missed was that the British Head of State (the King/Queen = their President) was officially 'above' party and formed his/her Executive from the party which was able to command the most support in Parliament.

Ok, the little boy beside Trump and his current wife is their child. He doesn't look thrilled does he? I wonder why. His body language says he is not happy about his Dad getting the top job. My boys would be ecstatic!

Wobblybits Wed 09-Nov-16 13:10:57

As Trumps party controls both houses he is in total control. A far as the nuclear button goes, he will have the say, the decision to press the button cannot wait for discussion in the event of an attack, Trump will make the call.
How any woman could have voted for him amazes me.

whitewave Wed 09-Nov-16 13:03:13

This argument has shades of the Brexit argument

Anniebach Wed 09-Nov-16 12:58:13

Synonymous, your post is blasphemous. God wants a man in power who mocks the disabled, is a racist, a sex abuser, a liar ? No he does not

sarahellenwhitney Wed 09-Nov-16 12:49:51

It appears that from many of the comments on here the opinion is that those who voted for Mr Trump are all racists, mysogonists, muslim haters etc.
This is an insult to the American people who are fed up to the teeth from over thirty years of democrat rule that sees so many US people and that includes those of other race colour and religion who made America their home see their standards of living decrease not able to find accommodation or too expensive and Obama Care has caused so many to find themselves in debt and without medical care like what we in GB take for granted from our free NHS.
Decisions will not be up to the president He will be advised by others as have past presidents and puts his signature or delivers a speech and no he is not sitting with his finger on the button. There is more to it than that so all chewing their nails can now get your sleep at night.

Putin, too. Whoopee for such wonderful allies!

As one of the Ancients said, "Whom the gods wish to destroy/They first make mad."

It seems that the bad news keeps on coming. I'm beginning to feel quite apocalyptic about the way our bit of the world seems to be heading.

Can anyone suggest a saner, kinder part of the world which might accept an incoming Gran or two?

angie95 Wed 09-Nov-16 12:40:30

The world has gone mad'!! The news reported that America asked how it happened, errr hello.. you voted him in ! Not a good day for any of us .

Synonymous Wed 09-Nov-16 12:24:42

Clearly it is not possible to keep God out of anything since He was there first. smile

The quiet people who have watched and waited, investigated and seen unpalatable things happening are now having their say. Hopefully the media barons and elite will soon no longer have their own way and not be able to manipulate public opinion to their own benefit. This is because more people are waking up and seeing the twisted way in which so called facts are being presented.
All of this weeping and wailing is extraordinary. A strong person is always going to command respect and possibly even fear and that is not always a bad thing. It is unlikely that other world leaders would risk bluffing with a man who is quite capable of calling it and to then still be standing at the end of the day.

The new Vice President Elect is a strong Christian and so there will be an influence for good in that government.
Many Christians across America and the world have been praying for God's person to be elected. This does not mean the perfect person but means the right person to do what God wants. He has used all kinds of people to fulfil His purposes in the past and will always do so. There needs to be a greater understanding that indeed "God is working his purposes out as year succeeds to year" as well as much concerted prayer. If you want to pray and just don't know how to pray then the best thing is to tell God exactly that and then ask Him to overrule in all things to His glory.
We need to take our eyes off ourselves and put them on to God. flowers

Welshwife: As a lawyer he was unprepared for the need to work with personal feelings instead of rules and regulations. He was slow to react, slow to make decision and many matters fot worse as a result. Letting the Syrian dictator off the hook was probably his worst decision.

Please feel free to share any or all of my DD's writings. She has shared both pieces on Facebook this morning under her own name so they are public property now.

That is my DGD she is talking about and I too fear for her future. I have spent my entire life as a feminist and really felt we were making progress until recently when it would appear from the MSM that a female only has value if she is beautiful and sexy with that value dropping as she ages until she is replaced by the younger model. YES I am talking about Trump here but also our own media eg May meets Sturgeon and the headline is a comparison of their stilletoes.

David1968 Wed 09-Nov-16 12:09:25

Like most of you, I'm in shock and despair. I can scarcely believe that this appalling man now holds the most powerful post in the world. My DS (our only child) and his family live in California - they're all US citizens. This morning I had an MRI, and as I lay in the "tube", trying to go to my "happy place", all I could think of was about what sort of world my grandchildren will grow up in. Heaven help us all..

MaddyoneI didn't mean people are stupid, I meant they were uneducated about the truth about Trump. The man is a narcissist. People believe his mouth without knowing the facts. They believe false claims and lies. He has flip flopped on his issues. There is video of him calling Clinton wonderful as Secretary of State yet in his campaign he says she's terrible. Did you know he was a democrat a few years ago and gave a million dollars to Hillary's last campaign against Obama? Once you push the nuclear button you can't flip back. People just wanted anything but Clinton. They have no values anymore . Would you vote for someone who talked about women and gays like he did? Would you vote for someone who made fun of a handicapped person? Trump doesn't even know how our government works.

'We are reaping the fruit of rampant inequalities and demagogy of the supposed free press led by multimillionnaire barons who manipulate the vile mob instincts of a populace who have lost track of where the real enemy is, the deceitful rich and powerful, like Trump. I shall mourn in silence to-day the death of human decency.'Summed up so well Granny 23.
