Trump. How could all those people vote for him?
Ochone ochone (Gaelic lamentation)

The world has gone mad

jordana Wed 09-Nov-16 09:22:56

A sad day indeed for the world for trump to be in power. No class at all and his wife is not in the same league as Michelle Obama. Only after he is sworn in will we see what happens. Still watching g reactions of public on sky news

Beammeupscottie Wed 09-Nov-16 09:12:54

If you assassinate a leader you make him a martyr and will get the Donald Mark 2.
He will need to be educated towards moderation and learn the Art of Politics.

Candlefran Wed 09-Nov-16 09:08:28

They're calling it a 'Black Swan' event.

as per the book "A massive impact".

Wobblybits Wed 09-Nov-16 09:04:36

Merlot, I'm ashamed of my own thoughts, like your DH I would not be surprised to see him assassinated, and I would not mourn.

Beammeupscottie Wed 09-Nov-16 09:03:27

People need to take a more positive outlook here.
If you chuck a nuclear weapon, you will get one back. The Donald will be educated on that.
The unfeasibility of building a wall across the Mexican border.
with strong possibility that he will not deliver to his supporters.

I'm shocked these so called TV people with money and power ruling the world
Whatever next!!!!shock

EllenT Wed 09-Nov-16 09:00:23

Depressing news indeed.

merlotgran Wed 09-Nov-16 08:59:38

Total shock when I turned on the TV early this morning.

Last night someone in America being interviewed said, 'It's not about who you're voting for, it's about who you're voting aginst!'

DH thinks he'll be assassinated.

What a sad state of affairs.

Anya Wed 09-Nov-16 08:59:20

Sadly there's absolutely nothing we can do. We may rant and rave as much as we want but it will alter nothing.

We can only sit and watch and hope he calms down and doesn't go on some mad power trip. Not hopeful though.

Greyduster Wed 09-Nov-16 08:54:28

Happy birthday, Jane! ??

Greyduster Wed 09-Nov-16 08:53:33

What a disapointment. We can only hope that he will learn fast what diplomacy means and that the people around him with political experience that he doesn't have will be a stabilising influence in the White House. We can only wait and see. He's know to be no fan of the NATO alliance, so there are worrying implications there. We must just wait and see.

Charleygirl Wed 09-Nov-16 08:52:55

Happy birthday Jane10 as others have said, one that you will never forget.

I could not believe what I was watching on TV early this morning, before the final result. What have the people of that country done?

Anniebach Wed 09-Nov-16 08:47:46

Putin has congratulated him

whitewave Wed 09-Nov-16 08:42:45

Our!

whitewave Wed 09-Nov-16 08:42:29

It's like Brexit on steroids.

Markets down. No world leaders yet prepared to congratulate him except Le Penn that tells a tale. No doubt are staunch Brexiter Farage is thrilled.

ninathenana Wed 09-Nov-16 08:40:32

If we are horrified and scared by Trump I can't imagine how thousands of Americans are feeling right now.

hildajenniJ Wed 09-Nov-16 08:40:15

Oh America, what have you done!

ninathenana Wed 09-Nov-16 08:33:31

Be afraid, be very afraid
sad

Christinefrance Wed 09-Nov-16 08:32:06

Can't believe it, shows the level of dissatisfaction of the American people. Another thought if there is a general election in UK Boris could become PM then here in France Le Penn could be president. The world going to hell in a handcart.

whitewave Wed 09-Nov-16 08:29:01

Yes pit I do understand that, but, how much power does he have over say the nuclear button. Mind you that's a bit extreme I know,

Pittcity Wed 09-Nov-16 08:25:24

whitewave Trump will have more sway than Obama did because the Republican party holds the majority in Congress.

Handynan27 Wed 09-Nov-16 08:23:52

Had exactly the same phrase in my head BlueBelle. So fearful for the world my grandchildren have to grow up in. And his victory speech was sickening - so two-faced

Badenkate Wed 09-Nov-16 08:16:54

Well, didn't actually like to say that dj but.... Happy birthday Jane. It'll be certainly one you'll remember - I hope it improves from now on flowerswinecupcake

MaizieD Wed 09-Nov-16 08:16:28

@nana3

Forget about leaving the EU, perhaps? Not much chance of trade with the US now. It could be to our advantage to be part of a bloc rather than an isolated little island.
