War has broken out in momentum . Seems some members are not happy that trots have inflatrated and are taking control . How I wish we had one momentum member in this forum to explain what is going on

Anniebach Sun 11-Dec-16 11:26:49

And now Ken Livingston , I give up

Anniebach Sun 11-Dec-16 11:19:47

Something is wrong. No Corbyn, no McDonald in sight or sound. We get Abbott and
Thornberry speaking for them and the party

Anniebach Sat 10-Dec-16 21:24:30

Corbyn spoke out on the War in Syria and received much applause - he said 'we believe the war should end' !

Anniebach Sat 10-Dec-16 19:38:40

Corbyn cannot communicate , yes he can give speeches to his fan base but runs from questions from the media and will not give live interviews for TV.

When Thachell popped up this morning st one point Corbyn left the stage, was he seeking advice?

Anniebach Sat 10-Dec-16 19:34:00

Daphne,in was not being patronising, I asked because you questioned the truth of anti semitism. As I brought the topic up in the O/P I wondered if you agreed with the woman who has been suspended from the party

Ana Sat 10-Dec-16 19:29:28

That's part of the problem though - Corbyn seems to be actually unable to communicate with an audience wider than his cronies and/or fan club members.

A spin doctor might succeed in making him look a bit more galvanised, but the enthusiasm just doesn't seem to be there.

POGS Sat 10-Dec-16 19:28:15

'PS. Of course Corbyn wouldn't employ Campbell, but he needs to do something to counteract the impression that he's part of a rabble who can't communicate.'

He could try communicating for a start.

daphnedill Sat 10-Dec-16 19:22:57

Do you have an understanding of antisemiticism, ab? (No need to be so patronising. You don't have a monopoly on ideas.)

My understanding is that there is no agreed defintion, so maybe you can give your definition.

PS. Of course Corbyn wouldn't employ Campbell, but he needs to do something to counteract the impression that he's part of a rabble who can't communicate.

POGS Sat 10-Dec-16 19:14:59

Right pair together, if they were ever parted that is . confused

Anniebach Sat 10-Dec-16 19:12:36

Campbell will not work with Corbyn. He is getting involved with the new centre politics institute Blair is setting up .

Daphne, do you have an understanding of what anti semitism means ?

POGS Sat 10-Dec-16 19:09:52

Ana

As a Shadow Defence Secretary I honestly am bemused where Labour are with the subject of Defence to be honest.

Labour 'Life Peer' Lord West sums up Labour policy perhaps best and he is not a Thornberry fan it would appear. It is certainly a fact Labour are divided on Trident and to be honest over Corbyn and his front bench Ministers views full stop over Defence of the Realm which is one of the primary governments duty to carry out.

Ana Sat 10-Dec-16 18:25:01

And goodness knows she needs advice!

POGS Sat 10-Dec-16 18:05:41

'That's why they need a decent spin doctor, who knows how to communicate with the press and stop the government from runningthe agenda.'

Ye gods I hope not spin doctors like Alastair Campbell, Peter Mandelson.

I doubt if Corbyn will get Campbell back in the coop soon, the clash/row between him and John McDonnell on Question Time not so long ago was a classic. If the reports are founded in the 'after show row' and McDonnels choice of words to Campbell were used then I don't see any love lost there.

Having said that hasn't disgraced Labour spin doctor Damian McBride, Mc POISON , Mc Prickface and far worse, as he is charmingly called returned to the fold already as an advisor to Emily Thornberry.

Well, there's loads of flashing Christmas lights round here.

I've given up on who is right/wrong, who's supporting whom, whether there's any truth in the accusations of antisemiticism, etc etc. It's all playground politics.

I don't actually care who is the 'purest' socialist and I'm fed up with policies without any clear plans.

What I do care about is that the country is going through the biggest change that most of us will have known in our lifetimes. We have a government which doesn't seem to think anything is off limits and, quite frankly, doesn't seem very competent.

I don't think most people want whats happening, but there's no realistic alternative. Everybody seems to be running round like headless chickens. The Labour Party should be challenging what's happening, but they're not. That's why they need a decent spin doctor, who knows how to communicate with the press and stop the government from runningthe agenda. For all Blair's faults, he must be so frustrated by it all, because he did know (at least in the beginning) how to read what the public wanted.

Ana Sat 10-Dec-16 16:13:57

No, not many, but one very staunch one certainly! Perhaps she too has now seen the light...

daphnedill Sat 10-Dec-16 16:11:31

I'm not sure he has many supporters, roses.

Beammeupscottie Sat 10-Dec-16 14:44:32

The man is useless; always has been, always will be.

rosesarered Sat 10-Dec-16 14:24:26

was Corbyn hiding behind a chair?I notice that his supporters are quiet [as in not here] on this thread.

Anniebach Sat 10-Dec-16 13:11:18

yes I remember that POGS. I agree with Thachell that Corbyn has double standards,

POGS Sat 10-Dec-16 13:00:20

He has form though doesn't he.

Who remembers we spoke about how upset he was at the Stop The War meeting chaired by Dianne Abbot last year.

leftfootforward.org/2015/11/stop-the-war-refuse-to-listen-to-syrians-during-debate-on-syria/

He feels there is a 'hypocrisy' concerning Corbyn and connected organisations and there view over Syria and Saudi Arabia.

Anniebach Sat 10-Dec-16 12:22:54

Thachell was right in what he said

POGS Sat 10-Dec-16 12:17:01

Sky News was covering Corbyns meeting 'live' but Tatchell and a handful of demonstrators stood in front of the stage at the beginning . Tatchell has now become the story.

To be fair to Corbyn he let him speak but Shami Chakrobarti looked uncomfortable, 'again'.

Anniebach Sat 10-Dec-16 12:15:23

Just saw it, just what is going on? Where was momentum to protect him? I agree with Thachell

Devorgilla Sat 10-Dec-16 11:38:09

I gather JC is having trouble at his meeting today. Tatchell and co interrupting his speech. Just come onto BBC website for those of you who follow such things. 'Trouble at Mill'?

Devorgilla Fri 09-Dec-16 21:27:43

Perhaps the secret to success is to maintain the status quo with a few tweaks here and there. Perhaps people feel safe with that at the end of the day. I am not surprised Momentum is having problems. Along with others on this site I predicted it from the beginning. There is always the 'young rat' coming up behind you.
