Trump will be inaugurated in 16 days time. Ford has recognised this new era.

How will his Junta of advisors deal with the political world?

Will Trump continue to govern by twitter?

Will his erratic behaviour stop?

Will he be less muddled in his thinking?

What will happen to NATO and article 5?

Will the world survive his environmental policy - such that it is?

Will America be able to contain him?

Rinouchka Mon 23-Jan-17 20:05:05

Trump has signed the anti-abortion bill. Surrounded by men. Unfortunately, I am unable to copy and paste the chilling photo.

Ana Mon 23-Jan-17 20:06:31

Half the world uses Twitter a lot! grin

durhamjen Mon 23-Jan-17 20:10:29

I would be surprised at that. Less than a billion, I would think. World population just under 7.5 billion.

The man who is the second most powerful in the world uses twitter too much.

durhamjen Mon 23-Jan-17 20:11:13

Maybe he'll put too much on twitter and be investigated by the secret services.

Lewlew Mon 23-Jan-17 20:12:13

This is NOT anything to do with Roe vs Wade for those interested in US issues.

And didn't Bush want to NOT provide condoms to Africa for AIDS prevention? I mean... a lot of those women were not having consented sex, it was more that the men owned their bodies in marriage.

Trump Reinstates Reagan-Era Anti-Abortion Policy
by NIKITA BIRYUKOV and EMMA MARGOLIN

With the stroke of a pen, President Donald Trump reinstated a controversial rule that blocks foreign aid for family planning services.

Known as the "Mexico City policy" or the "Global Gag Rule," the policy bars foreign aid or federal funding for international programs that provide abortions — or even information about the procedure.

Under the rule, USAID would be unable to provide funds to non-governmental organizations that provide referrals or counseling for abortion services, or advocate for the same. NGOs that provide abortions — except in the case of rape, incest or life endangerment — would also be ineligible for aid.

Quite interesting watching Spicer back tracking on what he said the last time he opened his mouth.

Lewlew Mon 23-Jan-17 20:13:34

Everyone so inclined on Twitter could tweet just to make the SS life miserable!

Rinouchka Mon 23-Jan-17 20:19:10

Yes, Lewlew not a "bill* as such but a removing of purse strings for NGO aid to the most vulnerable who require abortion counselling or even birth control.

The photo sums it all up: a strew of rich, besuited white men making the decision.

Ana Mon 23-Jan-17 20:20:54

Oh, sorry durhamjen, I forgot you tske things so literally...

durhamjen Mon 23-Jan-17 20:58:36

That has been suggested, Lewlew. Funnily enough, he misspelt honored in a tweet, and deleted it, replacing it with a correct spelling. It seems he might have broken congressional law!

And you exaggerate so much, Ana.....

Welshwife Mon 23-Jan-17 21:01:46

I have seen a report that Trump has recalled Caroline Kennedy(daughter of JFK) back from her position as US Ambassador to Japan - so far he has not replaced her.
She has announced she will be standing for the Senate at the next election and may herself try for the White House in 2020.

whitewave Mon 23-Jan-17 21:08:32

It's all happening isn't it?

Mair Mon 23-Jan-17 21:38:16

And I doubt there was a word of criticism when Michelle Obama spent an absolute fortune redecorating the White House...

Lewlew Mon 23-Jan-17 22:02:44

She gets an appropriation do to the private quarters as they all do. The Trumps can decorate their private quarters as they see fit. (Decorate there means refurbishment, not paint and paper).

Money to work on the public rooms comes from a different pot of money. The most notable was when Jackie Kennedy did major restorations.

Rinouchka Mon 23-Jan-17 22:17:43

I wonder if anyone has asked Trump if his daughter, Ivanka Trump, will be penalised for manufacturing all her designer clothes, shoes and jewelry in China?

This is a fact.

Not an alternative fact.

Lewlew Mon 23-Jan-17 22:18:35

Here's what they can do and what they can't, every first family has their own style: www.marieclaire.com/politics/news/a24825/donald-trump-white-house-redecorating/

durhamjen Mon 23-Jan-17 22:20:45

That's interesting, Rinouchka.
I presume she will be the first American to bring all her operations back to the motherland.

Lewlew Mon 23-Jan-17 22:20:52

Rinouchka Correctamundo! And with that I am off to sleep LOL!

durhamjen Mon 23-Jan-17 22:26:37

Not just Ivanka, either. I can just see them thinking why did he have to say that about factories and businesses!

Mair Mon 23-Jan-17 22:28:23

Michelle did redeecorating too. She did the state dining room and Jackie's decor in the 'old family dining room'. The Oval office had already been renovated in 2013 for Obama.

Welshwife Mon 23-Jan-17 22:31:26

The Obamas it seems used their own money to redecorate their living quarters. The playground they had built in the garden for their daughters they donated to a good cause when they left.

durhamjen Mon 23-Jan-17 22:35:04

I wonder what will happen to the organic veg they were growing there.

Rinouchka Mon 23-Jan-17 22:41:04

Wonderful book beckons but cousin from Virginia has just sent me this:

durhamjen Mon 23-Jan-17 22:47:11

My grandson will love that.
There was an article in last Thursday's i showing parts of the inauguration speeches by Jefferson, Lincoln, F D Roosevelt and J F Kennedy. My grandson was very impressed, but asked why Trump didn't say anything like that.
I'll send it to his mum, so I know where it is.

Mair Tue 24-Jan-17 00:42:06

Possibly had already used up their allowance on the other refurbishments. But would be nice to see your link!

Well they could hardly sell it on Ebay could they? The girls are a a tad grown up for it now! hmm
(Mind you looking like a cheapskate never worried Cherie Blair, she loved selling on Ebay!)
