Paul Nuttell is according to the poles is 10% ahead in the Stoke bi-election, so I thought I would look at some of his beliefs. I was astounded at how similar they are to Trumps.

1. Privatisation of the NHS - this has been taken from his website because he needs the votes. Privatisation of the NHS doesn't attract votes.

2. Wants a referendum to vote on restricting woman's rights. He is anti-abortion, and believes that there should be a ban on adverts for family planning and abortion.

3. Burka ban. In all public buildings.

4. Against banning discrimination against gays.

5. So he believes in placing restrictions on Muslim belief/culture, but is against any restriction to Christian beliefs.

6. Thinks sexist comment are OK, and against placing restrictions on these type of comments.

No wonder he was so thrilled when Trump won the election.

It's very non PC to say this but some voters are dim. Heard this on the radio
Interviewer; you voted leave and you are now voting UKIP, can you tell me why?
Voter: there ain't no jobs round ere
Interviewer: do you think there'll be more jobs when there is BRexit?
Voter: Not really, no.

In NZ they would say "Man up" Mair

Jalima Mon 06-Feb-17 23:25:20

Any of your relatives involved, Jalima?
The ones closest to me moved away, djen years ago, and we have lost touch with most of those who stayed, just an occasional snippet of news.

MawBroon Mon 06-Feb-17 23:20:05

@Mair running out of steam? Running out of excuses for UKIP?
They are rapidly becoming a joke as a political party. Fisticuffs among the members? Dodgy dealings by would be leaders? Leaders lasting about as long in the job as ice lollies in a heatwave?
But what a consolation that you haven't bothered getting involved confused
Only 6 contributions to this thread today. That shows real restraint hmm

Mair Mon 06-Feb-17 23:09:15

He's been accused of...

The kangaroo Jess court:
Off with his head!

whitewave Mon 06-Feb-17 22:00:49

You'd think he'd be asked on question time or something but he never is.

JessM Mon 06-Feb-17 21:56:14

Maybe they don't want him.

durhamjen Mon 06-Feb-17 21:43:38

Doesn't Carswell want to rejoin the Tories?

suzied Mon 06-Feb-17 21:18:40

Carswell doesn't get on with anybody, least of all fellow Kippers. Also I believe their policies include bringing back smoking in public places and relaxation of gun controls.

whitewave Mon 06-Feb-17 21:01:01

Something that I don't understand.

Why doesn't the only ukip mp Carswell ever get rolled on to represent ukip - it is always either Farage or Nuttall - the two fraudsters or Evans.

JessM Mon 06-Feb-17 20:52:49

And it's part of a pattern of lying - possibly compulsive lying - on Nuttall's part.
Which is not a good trait in an MP.
He's been accused of:
Lying about having a Phd on a LinkedIn page
Lying about being a professional footballer for Tranmere Rovers
Lying about having been at Hillsborough
Diverting MEP allowances into UKIP campaigning

He is also in favour of cutting time limit for abortion down to 12 weeks.
In favour of banning Burqua wearing in public
In favour of banning Al Gore's book on climate change from schools, calling it a "blatant bit of propaganda"
Pro Trump (since the election)
And - at times, anyhow - in favour of privatising the NHS (although back peddling now)

I sincerely hope that the people of Stoke are not taken in by him.

This will lose him a few votes.

No one is criticising Nuttall for not living in the Stoke condtituency, but for dishonestly giving the address of a house he had never at that time been in as his home address on his nomination papers. This is electoral fraud.

Ana Mon 06-Feb-17 20:10:04

Of course, I can read you like a book... smile

durhamjen Mon 06-Feb-17 19:56:28

I knew you'd understand, Ana.

Ana Mon 06-Feb-17 19:55:01

Clap 'im in irons! grin

durhamjen Mon 06-Feb-17 19:49:47

Making a false statement of a home address is an offence under the Representation of the People Act.

durhamjen Mon 06-Feb-17 19:36:16

Any of your relatives involved, Jalima?

whitewave Mon 06-Feb-17 19:32:41

Oh sorry to read that grin

We will have to wait and see.

There's a lot of wait and see going on in the world at the moment, very uncertain times.

durhamjen Mon 06-Feb-17 18:53:07

I never suggested they were. I suggested he was.

Jalima Mon 06-Feb-17 18:52:12

So what is the answer to anyone who calls you a GFer?
GFY I would think (not that I swear).

Jalima Mon 06-Feb-17 18:50:30

He did it to try and con people living in Stoke.

Sorry djen but I don't think the people of Stoke are that dim that they didn't realise that Nuttall does not live in Stoke!
If he rented a room, a PO box or whatever it was for postal services that is probably where he wanted his mail to be directed to; if he does win Stoke then I presume he will buy a second home there and be able to flip it as other politicians did so successfully (or is that against the rules now).

I would not vote UKIP btw, but let's be fair, Stoke-on-Trent people are not stupid. Some of my closest relatives are from there!
