Well as an official GFer, it's in print on here for all to see, I thought it was hillairious.

I understood it to apply to a thread started just to cause controversy and/or cause trouble - not to be used for any odd post that someone thinks is 'goading' or is an attempt to derail the thread.

However, I'm not a MN habitué...

POGS thanks for explaining what a Gfer is. I'm careful about my own use of the F word (my children, however, are not, it's normal parlance for them) However, I thank mumsnet for this robust, instantly understandable short form of what is probably used as an insult but I'm sure can be used effectively on some of the political threads on gransnet currently.

I would ask you to acknowledge that it was not fanciful, nor political bias /spin when posters have mentioned the fact signs were put in the windows of houses stating, ' No Irish, No Blacks, No dogs'.

I think there is too much evidence to not comprehend this did actually happen.

I would think the people of Stoke who are going to vote for UKIP wouldn't give a stuff if he lived on mars.

pogs don't you understand that it isn't something I feel rational about. I really do not care whether the argument is advanced by my statement about how I feel about the rise of the hard right. It is a gut reaction.

Haven't you realised yet, POGS, that it's not about the address that Nuttall used on his nomination forms?
It's about the fact that he felt it necessary to lie about it.
He put a Stoke address on the form when he did not live in Stoke. He did it to try and con people living in Stoke.
He could have put his real address on the form, like others did. Why didn't he?

There have been posts on another thread how the Tories are 'Hated'. It seems a common theme for some to 'hate'.

Usually the word 'hate' is ironically used by the same posters who 'virtue signal' by adopting and posting the 'HOPE NOT HATE' motto.

The point is when 'hate' means common sense or keeping within the bounds of factual evidence is lost then I'm not sure where that leads to either.

I didn't know what Gfer meant and once I knew I made my opinion known. I did not 'PROTEST' against it's nature with relation to the thread I called it out as I viewed it.

If I see a point being raised which is baseless ,nothing more than political bias/spin/hypocrisy then I will call it out as I view it. Making a connection with Nuttall living in or not the constituency of Stoke On Trent has Jack S--t to do with it if the same argument applies to other MP's .

There is a collective will by some posters to disparage some politicians the dislike/hate by idiotically using content that can and does apply to other politicians , as in the case of residency in the constituency.

POGS, WE all know that it is not necessary to live in the constituency for which you are wanting to be elected.
Unfortunately Paul Nuttall did not know. He lied on his forms when applying to be elected.
He lies lots of times.

Suppose it's difficult to define, I am not biased against Corbyn, I react as anyone who has been betrayed would react. Not revenge , just no trust in a dishonest person and say do.

I think the word bias is most useful in circumstances where there is an expectation, an assumption or an obligation of someone (or something) being fair, non-discriminatory or even handed. Just silly to apply it to people's personal political views.

I impartially dislike all politicians who spread and encourage prejudice against people unable to stand up against it. I cannot see how that makes someone prejudiced. UKIP fit themselves into that category - I don't put them in it.

"The elite" is not an homogenous group. By most people's measurements N Farage is a member of the elite - just because some other wealthy, public school educated, metropolitan, politically influential etc people hate him doesn't mean he's not one!

It would not necessarily be a bad thing to be biased against something which you and many others consider to be wrong anniebach
