Paul Nuttell is according to the poles is 10% ahead in the Stoke bi-election, so I thought I would look at some of his beliefs. I was astounded at how similar they are to Trumps.

1. Privatisation of the NHS - this has been taken from his website because he needs the votes. Privatisation of the NHS doesn't attract votes.

2. Wants a referendum to vote on restricting woman's rights. He is anti-abortion, and believes that there should be a ban on adverts for family planning and abortion.

3. Burka ban. In all public buildings.

4. Against banning discrimination against gays.

5. So he believes in placing restrictions on Muslim belief/culture, but is against any restriction to Christian beliefs.

6. Thinks sexist comment are OK, and against placing restrictions on these type of comments.

No wonder he was so thrilled when Trump won the election.

And the relevance of that is what?
Shall we start on moats and duck houses next? Or even stick to the thread topic?
Now there's a thought! hmm

A councilor was given two month's jail for giving a false address

Seems ridiculously harsh given Ed and Yvette Balls escaped gaol for
'flipping' homes three times to maximise expenses as well as claiming first class fares for the entire family of five spending their weekends in the constituency.

As IF a family with three young kids chooses the train over the family car for such a trip.

Rigby46 Sat 04-Feb-17 22:29:41

My take on it was that PN wanted a constituency address because with that on the ballot paper he would present himself as a local who really cared enough about them to live amongst them - aahh bless

And if you still need cheering, tune into S4C, press the subtitles button and watch Salon. Wales's answer to Googlebox. Wonderful stuff.

JessM Sat 04-Feb-17 21:47:19

Just to cheer us up - I'm watching an S4C documentary about a Welsh speaking girl Nesdi Jones who is making a name for herself as a British Bangra star. Mass of adoring fans watching her in a festival in the rain.

A councillor was given two month's jail for giving a false address.

durhamjen Sat 04-Feb-17 11:20:43

I would have thought Nuttall would know that, as he's stood in four elections before. He was just trying to be clever. Instead he's probably scuppered his chances. He can't be after the homeless vote, because they don't have a vote, but it certainly looks like that, sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

MawBroon Sat 04-Feb-17 11:14:01

I see what you mean
"The Electoral Commission's guidance for candidates and agents states home addresses "must be completed in full" and "must be your current home address" but does not need to be in the constituency in which you intend to stand".
So not merely dishonest, a bit dim as well?
Scraping the barrel?

Mairt's favourite authority.

JessM Sat 04-Feb-17 11:06:11

And this week's lie of the week, just for anyone who missed it.
The irony is that it's was a completely unnecessary lie.
The law says that candidates have to put their full address on the form. Lots of candidates don't have a local address at this stage. But he lied.

mair : So back to your observations about your local schools, I think we can safely conclude that the ethnic majority British i.e. native British, have already fallen to ethnic minority status in all your local schools. I am not surprised!
I am still not clear who counts as "native British"in your anecdotal schools survey. How many generations back do we have to go? What about mixed race kids( the largest growing group)? What about me with my Irish grandparents? What survey have you done to establish your claims? You don't actually live in inner London and you claim to know the racial and ethnic identity of all the kids. Does it matter anyway? if someone's family have been here 2, 3 or 4 generations I would say they were British " Native" British has no meaning, though I suspect you mean pure white. I trust there are only native British at your local NHS hospital. I despair of the racist tone here. Sorry to divert from the highly attractive individual that is P Nuttall, but I am sure Mair shares his views.

JessM Sat 04-Feb-17 08:28:37

Paul Nuttall. MEP. Dodgy character. Known for lying. e.g. about having a Phd and being a professional footballer. Currently in trouble for allegedly funnelling his EU allowances (the money he gets for running an office etc) into UKIP. Against the rules. Trying to get elected to parliament in the Stoke by-election.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 04-Feb-17 08:06:35

Just seen the title of this thread. Who is the leader of UKIP these days? Is it one of the funny (strange) little men they seem to attract or are they still playing the women card?

MiceElf Sat 04-Feb-17 07:55:41

'MiceElf. I left Greenwich for Southend on sea in 1968. I see that the person you refer to was mayor in 1990-1991. The politics of Greenwich weren't on my radar.'

Clearly not, or you would have been well aware of the sterling work done by Gurdip and his many colleagues and that of other members of the Asian community during that time. It's sad that you felt impelled to make such a sweeping and unfounded comment about the Asian residents of the Borough.

durhamjen Fri 03-Feb-17 23:27:52

Okay, Rigby. I am pleased that Labour won a seat from UKIP, Mair's favourite party.

Anniebach Fri 03-Feb-17 23:24:34

Rigby ,sadly you are mistaken, there is no greater devide in the Labour Party than a member who wants a labour government and a member who wants to support a leader who is determined to destroy the Labour Party.

Anyway as I have been ordered, this is a UKIP thread so back to UKIP

Rigby46 Fri 03-Feb-17 23:15:57

AB and DJ why do I keep getting an irresistible urge to knock both your heads together sometimes and remind you that the things that unite you are much more important than the things that divide you. Neither of you are the enemy to each other in any meaningful sense - at least not whilst Mair's posts are reminding us of the real enemy within

Anniebach Fri 03-Feb-17 23:12:19

The no Blacks, no dogs etc signs, were in most cities in the sixties. I went in a pub with my partner in sbout 1964 eho was black SA, we are asked to sit in a back room, and no the pub was not crowded. Friends of mine from St Kitts tried to buy a house, they viewed and every time they arrived back at the estate agent the house was either sold or taken off the market.

Anniebach Fri 03-Feb-17 23:05:48

Jen you are great at posting blogs but your knowledge of genuine party support is rock bottom and still drilling, I am not knocking Lsbour I sm sharing my fears of it's decline whilst. UKIP is on the up.

Oh for a grassroots supporter who could share my fears

durhamjen Fri 03-Feb-17 23:05:18

Roses, it would be good if Annie could be pleased that a Labour councillor won a seat instead of a UKIP one. That would be asking too much of her.

durhamjen Fri 03-Feb-17 23:03:14

In Hull it was NO STUDENTS NO BLACKS NO IRISH.

However, we had black students, Irish students, Asian students, my parents didn't care. Black doctors I remember very well, pushing me on my swing in the back garden before I was old enough to start school.
Never met a black Irish student, though.

rosesarered Fri 03-Feb-17 22:59:07

annieb is simply telling it like it is, as she usually does ( and why not?)

rosesarered Fri 03-Feb-17 22:56:07

But not 'NO DOGS NO BLACKS NO IRISH' ? Which I think ( excuse the pun) was a bone of contention.
Certainly there were notices about the two ethnic groups.

Hope it works.

I didn't live in London but there were signs like that in windows in Hull. However, my parents were more enlightened, and I was brought up with various immigrants living in the house, right until I left home. That was through the fifties and sixties.
