I wouldn't mind a multi cultural school at all Mair as long as the government put resources in place to pay for the extra teachers required. My DGC's school is a relatively new school and is just about "getting there" and have just recently had their first positive Ofsted result. A sudden influx of children for whom English is not their first language could upset the apple cart so to speak . The school already suffers from a shortage of permanent teaching staff.

Absolutely not but youre up against very powerful forces that dont want it to! The same was true in my area (south) when my own DCs were at primary school in the 90s. Its not so now. Ethnic British kids are still the majority, but that was also true in Hackney and Tower Hamlets when I lived there in the 80s (there were a very small number of schools around Brick Lane that were all Bangla but apart from that it was multiculti with ethnic Brits the majority). The change is slow at first but accelerates.

Most British people do not mind a multiculti school but understandably do not want their child to be 'ethnic minority' in our own country.

Revisting the earlier posts about movement of labour. There has always been a mass movement of workers when one industry/agriculture failed or changed. In the 19th C large numbers of the poorest, ag.labs as the census calls them, were paid a grant by the Government to migrate to areas where they could find work.

My family left Norfolk poorest of the poor and went to work in the cotton mills in Lancashire. From there, great grandfather appears working in the coal mines of the north east. Next census, the family is back in the cotton mills and not long afterwards, they emigrated to work in the cotton mills of Massachussets. Millions of people have done this. Witness the British seeking to move to abroad for what they perceive as a better life.

My point being that people have to live and feed families and they migrate for better conditions and better lives. It's a pity we can't accept that migrants have a right to better lives. They want something more for their children. What's wrong with that?

Because the wealthy 'white' Londoners who vote remain do not send their children to those schools, raging hypocrits as they are!

The fact that the schools in London are heaving with immigrants spilling out onto the immigrant filled streets who fill all the housing in London didn't stop Londoners from voting remain. So thank God for sanity. It simply supports my argument that where there are sufficient jobs and reasonable prosperity, UKIP doesnt stand a snowballs chance in hell in its arguments and alternative facts.

My DGC's school is 99.99% white British. There is one mixed race child.

Probably because of the fact that there are no "spare" jobs.

I dont think it will happen. The ethnic British will become an ethnic minority in this country by 2050. I do not think the newcomers will share the desire to protect the country that most of our native people share and will not stand up to the very powerful forces of globalisation. Many with family members eager to come in have a vested interest in keeping the borders porous. In other words, only a very small window remains for us to halt the trend.

It is not necessary to live in London to investigate the make up of its schools, but I used to live in London and DD lives there still.
(Not that its particularly relevant).

If you dont believe me then I challenge you to find an inner London state secondary school which is majority indigenous British.

I suspect the only ones you will find will be Jewish and RC schools, possibly CofE in posh areas, such as the Greycoat hospital school the Cameron's have sent their daughter to, so a non faith school please.

All we've got to do is hope that May comes up with the goods and recognises the issues like rubbish working practices and poor pay as well as the deprivation in the north and we neatly side step the grunge that is ukip

If you are forgotten by successive governments and the very party you believed stood up for you, lets you down badly, it is only natural you might look for an alternative.

I think this is what has happened in the USA and could easily happen here too.

I think the truth is that some people will have to eventually compromise, but the vast majority in the U.K. Will be happy to live with the outcome.

rose the white paper recognises that fact, and I think that what is really happening is that they are going to wait to see how the negotiations pan out before making any announcement. It may be that free movement gets caught up we will have to wait and see what the EU offers, but I think that May is being realistic and not making any announcement about immigration before th e fog has cleared.
