Using a word like "vermin" to describe people seems pretty hate-filled to me and perhaps might resonate with those similarly described who found themselves in concentration camps.

I think Theresa used the word 'stunning' quite well. It implied it was a shock and not necessarily a pleasant one. She could so easily have said wonderful or marvellous or any of a number of similar words. We laughed when we first heard her say that in her speech.

Roses I laughed at your comment on the superiority of US meat. I used to know an American who complained that the steak was so tough in other countries. And worked with Americans who could not grasp that steak was a luxury in the UK.
Then I looked up how they produce large quantities of cheap, flabby meat. They use "feed-lots" that prevent the cattle from moving much (which tends to lead to soft muscle) and then feed them with a high calorie diet along with various growth promoting chemicals, hormones and antibiotics. This makes them swell up like a body builder who is taking steroids.
They could not have such vast meat-producing units here because we don't have prairies and they would contaminate our rivers and coastal waters.
