and I did not reprimand you, I just likened your remark about Schadenfreude Central right here to the tendency of the British to indulge in Tall Poppy Syndrome.

Schadenfreude: the exquisite joy and smug satisfaction from contemplating and revelling in the misfortune of others. To see the mighty fallen. To see your competitors stumble and fall. To see your enemies get their “just come-uppance”.

As I said, I neither like nor dislike them, I don't know them. But hacking of someone's private emails is despicable and criminal.

Jalima, in reply to your post, I most certainly didn't build up Beckham, neither have I knocked him down. He'll carry on living his wealthy lifestyle in his many homes around the world, not troubled one iota by comments on Grandparent's forum.

I hardly knocked him down either. To my mind he is a pleasant but rather dense ex footballer, who, like all football players earns (or earned in his case) a disproportionate amount of money for kicking a ball about. Yes, the way of the world, and not his fault that players' wages are obscene.

I do believe it's ok to be critical on fora such as these. It's galling to be reprimanded for holding an opinion which is different from others. I don't hold the Beckham family in high esteem and never have, for many reasons. That, according to some posters is wrong, or mean. He is a public figure, and therefore people will have opinions about him.

Beckham's emailed tantrums have done him no favours but in my last post I did mention that having his email account hacked was unfair.
