Apologies if there is a new Trump thread, but the only one I could find had hit the magic 1000 posts mark.
Just seen this on Facebook. Makes excellent sense.

Apparently, he's loosing support in the polls, so maybe his supporters aren't all crazy. Unfortunately, the constitution doesn't allow for temporary insanity of voters. Well done to the Republicans in Congress who refused to support Trump. Let's hope that a few more have the courage to defy him.

Ginny42 Fri 24-Mar-17 20:48:55

Thank goodness for that! It seems that he's being challenged at last.

tanith Fri 24-Mar-17 20:35:41

That's going to go down really well with all his crazy supporters grin

whitewave Fri 24-Mar-17 20:30:30

Crass idiot

daphnedill Fri 24-Mar-17 20:27:20

TriciaF Merkel can speak perfectly good English. I doubt very much that language difficulties played a part.

At the press conference, when they were sitting on the chairs, people present called for a handshake. Merkel also asked for one, but Trump refused. He has shaken hands with other leaders he has met.

whitewave Fri 24-Mar-17 20:25:40

Wonder what he will do? Tweet I suppose grin

daphnedill Fri 24-Mar-17 20:22:59

A vote on US President Donald Trump's healthcare bill has been withdrawn at the last minute after it failed to gain enough support to pass in Congress. Good!

Going back to the Merkel-Trump meeting - there are several snips on youtube, giving conflicting impressions. Language differences obviously played a part. They did in fact shake hands at least once.
The media can pick and choose what they report.
ps too many links to choose to put on here.

Wish it were fake news!!! Clearly, only men get ill in Trumpland, and pregnancies and deliveries go by with never a problem.

Jalima Fri 24-Mar-17 14:14:07

I am absolutely shocked by that photo Ginny42 - it's not 'fake news' though, is it?

shock

(yes, I am being facetious)

Judthepud2 Fri 24-Mar-17 13:51:41

Ginny that photo is all over Twitter! Really shocking! Men deciding to remove maternity from the original Obama list of essential care cover.

And where is the bold Ivanka when women need represented? She now has an office in the WH, security clearance and access to classified info. Erm.....nepotism? Apparently she is off skiing somewhere.

I loved the piece in the NY Times (free to read) about the Wall Street Journal (not free to read) editorial. WSJ is owned by that upright journalistic mogul, Rupert Murdoch (yeah right). He also owns Fox (part of the SKY empire).
Fox is the stupid mouthpiece that Spicer et al use for their bona fide sources (I do hope you are reading the sarcasm here).

Well...at last someone has said it. FAKE PRESIDENT!! per the Gallup poll mentioned.

www.nytimes.com/2017/03/22/business/media/wall-street-journal-editorial-trump.html?_r=0

The editorial concluded: “Two months into his Presidency, Gallup has Mr. Trump’s approval rating at 39 percent. No doubt Mr. Trump considers that fake news, but if he doesn’t show more respect for the truth, most Americans may conclude he’s a fake President.”

See the committee discussing Trumps healthcare proposals. Not one woman in the room.

Scroll down to read that during the discussion about sections of the Obamacare package people are paying for care which don't affect them, e.g. pediatric care for people who don't intend to have children.

N.B. the facetious comments of Senator Pat Robert's (male), "I wouldn't want to lose my mammograms."

He later tweeted an apology: "I deeply regret my comments on a very important topic. Mammograms are essential to women's health & I never intended to indicate otherwise."

He appears to be unaware that men can have breast cancer too.

This is interesting.

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/mar/22/michael-flynn-ethics-pledge-foreign-contacts-house-oversight

All trump appointees have to sign a pledge not to lobby any foreign governments for life and any US companies for five years after they leave. Flynn didn't sign one.

Why have we not got one to curb people like Osborne?

Rinouchka Sun 19-Mar-17 08:16:32

Loved the Merkel look of displeasure. I cringe at his every utterance and gesture.

whitewave Sun 19-Mar-17 08:02:44

what a breath of fresh air to see Merkels contempt of Trump, both in her body language and face. Such integrity seems to have been in short supply over the past two months in many of the world leaders, including our own.

daphnedill Sat 18-Mar-17 20:46:13

I'm not calling you old-fashioned, Deedaa. It just shows that he's not fit to be a president.

He's also being ridiculed, because he claims Germany owes America money for NATO, showing that he hasn't a clue about NATO funding.

Deedaa Sat 18-Mar-17 20:33:03

Call me old fashioned but I couldn't believe anyone could be so downright rude to the leader of another country. Not terribly statesman like Donald!

Iam64 Sat 18-Mar-17 18:37:05

Thanks for that one daphnedill, brilliant.

durhamjen Sat 18-Mar-17 12:30:41

Can't remember where I first heard about Unbound, Ginny, but I have sponsored and bought a book for my grandson. I think it was through Hive.
It's an excellent concept. They have far more journalistic and publishing experience than Osborne.

Lewlew Sat 18-Mar-17 11:34:33

Love the image, DD !

And DJ did read the links on previous pages.Cheers.

Did you see her face whilst he was talking? Dr Merkel and The Donald. What a combo!

Jalima Sat 18-Mar-17 11:08:17

Looks like naughty schoolboy sent to the headmistress, except that he should be standing, head bowed.

whitewave Sat 18-Mar-17 10:38:34

That is not fake news dd that is fact!!

daphnedill Sat 18-Mar-17 09:59:25

Fake news? Maybe not hmm.

Ginny42 Sat 18-Mar-17 08:45:10

How do you find these things DJ? I needed to watch it twice to catch some things, there's so much going on.

It's very imaginative and humourous, I specially like the notion of his flax returns. I could hear the Donald saying some of those things. Click on Donaeld the Unready's twitter at the bottom of the page for more of the same.

Thanks for sharing, I'm now going to share too. smile
