Apologies if there is a new Trump thread, but the only one I could find had hit the magic 1000 posts mark.
Just seen this on Facebook. Makes excellent sense.

I agree that something may well be up about his tax returns.

durhamjen Sun 05-Mar-17 13:52:07

Just found out something new about links, Rinouchka.

From the article.

'We can all work ourselves into fevers of indignation. But the only antidote to these deep and understandable anxieties is the truth. We are the people of the United States. Our great nation is in a perilous moment, and the world is watching with great unease. We want the truth. We demand the truth. We can handle the truth.'

I agree with what he says about trump's tax return, too. Why has that dropped out of view? Why are people not making more of the fact that he hasn't published them yet?

Ankers Sun 05-Mar-17 13:47:01

The links are not working for me so I put the link words into google.
Or you could just not bother.

neo-nazis oh for goodness sake!

One of my favourite news anchors of my youth in the US was Dan Rather of CBS( born 1931). He continues to be a voice of reason. Do read his latest response to the Saturday morning Trump tweets re Obama:

Ankers Sun 05-Mar-17 13:24:47

Is Obama agreeing to it?!

durhamjen Sun 05-Mar-17 13:20:22

Maybe he thinks tweeting is just thinking aloud, not real criticism.

Elrel Sun 05-Mar-17 13:17:58

Apparently there is 'an unwritten agreement that the small club of former presidents do not attack or criticise one another out of cross-party respect for the office of the US presidency'. The Telegraph.

A gentleman's agreement as it were. Was Trump not told or does he just think a gentlemen's agreement wouldn't apply to him?

"Wouldn't trust donald trump if his tongue were notarised."

AlieOxon Sun 05-Mar-17 11:44:55

If we had a law like that maybe farage wouldn't have been able to ingratiate himself with trump...

JessM Sun 05-Mar-17 10:17:42

I understand from BBC that it is illegal for a private US citizen to engage in diplomacy. So that is serious, because they were private citizens at the time. Right up until the inauguration - in fact up to the date when they were officially appointed themselves.
The other legal issue is that there are serious allegations that the Russians were involved in cyber attacks or similar which influenced the outcome of the election.
Really, really serious if senior people who supported Trump and were given/rewarded with jobs were involved at all in this.
If either of the above are true it is a massive issue. So yes ANkers it does have to be really, really bad.

GracesGranMK2 Sun 05-Mar-17 09:03:43

You are right Ankers. It is not speaking to the Russians that is the problem; it is trying to cover up the fact that they have done so. Why?

Ankers Sun 05-Mar-17 08:46:50

Does it have to be bad though about the russian stuff?
Though on the other hand, things are not appearing very upfront about it all.

whitewave Sun 05-Mar-17 08:34:29

One thing is sure though Sessions lied.

Now the question is why?

If he was merely passing the time of day then why didn't he say?

There is a lot more to come out of this Russian business.

Obama is simply a distraction.

Ankers Sun 05-Mar-17 08:03:53

I have said before on here, I dont know what is going on about the Russia stuff.
I wonder if it is something completely different to what everyone has thought so far.

Ankers Sun 05-Mar-17 08:02:34

Some posters on here love distraction and diversion too.

It is not hard to think that Trump was taped. We shall see.

durhamjen Sat 04-Mar-17 23:48:36

Trump's dead cat. I love the beginning of this article.
We have an inkblot game, where we never see the same things twice ourselves, let alone the same as anyone else.

Elegran Sat 04-Mar-17 14:18:21

Yes, our posts crossed again, dj

On whether Trump has lost the plot - there seems to be a theory around that that IS the plot - spouting misinformation and creating chaos and confusion amid which he is the one with the "strong certain voice" behind which all should be rallying.

Ankers Sat 04-Mar-17 14:18:09

The subject is far from nitpicking. We are talking about life and death in many cases!

But reality and scenarios are rarely the same.

So be careful! Else you yourselves can end up hurt if things are done wrongly.
And it is not a good idea to promote something, when that person themselves has never come up across the actual reality.

GracesGranMK2 Sat 04-Mar-17 13:55:40

I found the video interesting and again, thank you Jen for including the link. I think we could look at similar training. Ankers stop whatabouting and allow people to hold their own views.
