Oh no! - he's back! I cannot bear his self-satisfied voice!

It does not matter what he says; he just gives me the creeps.

I doubt he gives a fig for what I think though grin

Tone didn't listen to all of us who were opposed to the Iraq war but he's now developed a "listening" ear it seems. Yes he has the right to express an opinion, but why does he think he should be the one to spearhead this campaign he's yesterday's man, and a discredited one at that.

Anniebach Sat 18-Feb-17 10:10:56

No, he is not planning a come back Trisher

trisher Sat 18-Feb-17 10:03:26

Which makes one wonder "why" but more essential is "why NOW? Tony never does anything without plan. Is he planning to make a come back? Heaven help us if he is.

Jane10 Sat 18-Feb-17 10:03:16

He can say what he likes. Does he deserve to be given the media attention that he's been given? No. Should we listen to him? No again.
He's had his day. He should butt out.

Anniebach Sat 18-Feb-17 09:55:43

What people think of him is their choice Daphne, but saying he should remain silent is hypocritical on a forum which supports free speech.

daphnedill Sat 18-Feb-17 09:51:35

Indeed he did, but he's toxic now.

Anniebach Sat 18-Feb-17 09:50:16

Luckygirl, he won three elections

GracesGranMK2 Sat 18-Feb-17 09:49:16

Place marking

Luckygirl Sat 18-Feb-17 09:46:11

He has a right to say what he wishes - as annie points out, we have free speech. But he gives me the creeps.

Luckygirl Sat 18-Feb-17 09:45:00

I too was pleased when Blair won the election - how soon I was disillusioned along with thousands of others.

Anniebach Sat 18-Feb-17 09:42:07

So not free speech for all it seems

Teetime Sat 18-Feb-17 09:34:10

OK here I go head over the parapet - I don't usually join in the political debates. I like TB, it was once of the happiest days of my life when he entered No 10, the sun shone and the Tories were gone Bliss. BUT I agree shut up and butt out Tone- enough is enough.

daphnedill Sat 18-Feb-17 09:17:41

I agree with you about the useless Labour leader. However, I do think some Labour MPs are between a rock and a hard place. I think (could be wrong) that 70% of Labour MPs are in constituencies which voted Leave. If they carry on supporting Remain, they'll be accused of not listening to democracy and the will of the people.

Boris Johnson has now criticised Blair for insulting the will of the electorate. Quite frankly, pots and kettles come to mind.

kittylester Sat 18-Feb-17 09:14:24

Or the DM thinks the same as me, Annie

MawBroon Sat 18-Feb-17 09:11:43

You are of course right anniebach and if I remember rightly at at least one point they were joined by Gordon Brown and David Cameron.
Brown spoke eloquently and convincingly before the Scottish Referendum, I wonder if Tone will be inviting him to join him on his "stump"?

Anniebach Sat 18-Feb-17 08:55:28

Kitty you think the same as the DM

Blair did campaign MawBroon, he and John Major

True BadenKate, he said what the useless Labour leader should be saying and what many labour MP's are not permitted to say publicly

Badenkate Sat 18-Feb-17 08:40:17

The really annoying thing is he's saying what no one else is, although clearly what a not inconsiderable number are thinking.

daphnedill Sat 18-Feb-17 08:18:53

I would imagine if TB had planned on having his own battlebus, the Remain campaign would have punctured its tyres.

MawBroon Sat 18-Feb-17 08:16:09

Blair is (no sniggering at the back) an intelligent man, and if he feels so strongly about this why wasn't he out there with his own battlebus in the run up to the referendum?
That sneaky voice at the back of my mind whispers he was waiting to see which way the wind blew then what's in it for Tone.
I am NOT advocating that we all roll over and have our tummies tickled by Theresa May and David Davies, (except those who got the result they voted for - their choice) yes oppose, debate, do whatever is possible to rescue something from this fiasco, but for TB to wait until now no launch his "crusade" smacks of a not very carefully hidden agenda. hmm

daphnedill Sat 18-Feb-17 08:05:32

I think he's right, but the wrong person to say it.

Being right is no longer good enough. Politicians have to understand the psychology of voters and use emotive arguments.

As somebody upthread wrote, Blair is the pantomime villain. It wouldn't matter if he said grass is green, people would still boo.

The papers are reporting that even the so-called Blairites in the Labour Party wish he'd shut up.

kittylester Sat 18-Feb-17 07:52:50

I think he was being thoroughly irresponsible to advise people to rise up and fight Brexitt - has he not spotted all the nastiness there is around without encouraging more?

For a long time he seems to have a messianic look in his eye.

Christinefrance Sat 18-Feb-17 07:46:00

I thought he didn't sound so sure of himself this time. Does he really think we will fall for his crap rubbish again

Alima Sat 18-Feb-17 04:55:30

The loathsome creep is right about one thing. He will get abuse for speaking out. (Quite relieved that it took a while before he got his own thread). Ugh.

Rigby46 Sat 18-Feb-17 03:42:17

No he didn't get paid for that. But anyway, I really don't understand what he's playing at with this speech. He just seems so disconnected from reality and how people feel about him, so irrelevant.

Hairspray Sat 18-Feb-17 03:23:59

Blair! What a nerve!!
