Three Tory MPs who were prominent Remainers, but never the less voted to trigger Article 50, have quit the Open Britain campaign. It looks as if their political careers in the totalitarian Tory Party are more important to them than the future of this country.

Stephen Dorrell, the former Tory MP who chairs European Movement, said: “This election is about something much bigger than party politics – it is about our future relationship with the rest of Europe.

Tory bullying has resurfaced. If May does get in with an increased majority, all I can say is those who voted for her will get what they deserve.
Unfortunately the rest of us do not deserve it.

I wonder how it will be declared in their election expenses, Granny23? Perhaps by not naming candidates or local issues it doesn't affect the spending limit if it can be called "national"

We are still waiting for the Crown Prosecution Service to announce which of the 30 or so Tory MPs and agents are to be prosecuted for electoral fraud in 2015. If it turns out that a lot of them are guilty, they should have been chucked out within months of that election and the country might not be in such a mess.

This is the leaflet we have received from the Tories by paid delivery for the LOCAL ELECTIONS. The other side is more of the same. There is not a single mention of local issues, their candidates names, their policies if elected, date, time and place of polling. I know that this leaflet is being delivered County wide and I suspect it may be Country wide and will undoubtedly be accounted for as Local Election spending (as it first appeared before the GE was called) but it is nothing but a Party Political Propaganda sheet.

Most of the other Candidates (8 for a 4 seat ward) with their supporters, have taken the trouble to hand deliver leaflets with their picture, CV, reason for standing, plans if elected, etc.

I hope that this blatant disregard, even contempt, for local democracy is duly noted by the electorate and not a single vote is cast for their unseen, unnamed, local candidates and that they will instead vote for people with a proven track record and genuine desire to oversee our essential local services.

I wish she'd go to voice training lessons. Every so often, her voice cracks and she sounds stressed (as people do when they're not convinced of what they're saying). She's not in control of her voice at all.

That is so true Iam I can't stand listening to her sanctimonious doublespeak when she does the opposite. Actions should speak louder than words.

May visited our constituency which is a marginal. She spoke to a gathering of tories and didn't meet or greet anyone else. A BBC news video showed her car receiving v signs and shouts from drivers on the other side of the road. We're living in interesting times. I can't imagine any result other than an increased majority for Theresa May's government. She is good at being the acceptable, reassuring face of her government. The speech she gave on the steps on number 10 when she won the leadership continues to be what she says in public. The actions she approves though, don't help struggling people do they.

May is coming to Wales today. But will she actually break cover? To say she's been low profile in her first week of campaigning is probably an exaggeration. Invisible more like. Yesterday the BBC newsfeed on the election covered the polls, but there was no Tory campaign item, whatsoever. The lovely Laura tweeted that May was leaving Labour to stew in its own juice (impartial, even in the teeth of the gale). However it is clear that Labour has been on campaign footing for 2 weeks now, ever since that School Dinner announcement and May still seems to be dithering while occasionally emerging to say "Strong" and "Leadership" scamper back into the undergrowth.

That's very flattering anniebach that the whole of Wales is listening to you; are you shouting from the top of Snowdon?

Well, at least they may move away from UKIP!

Tories destroying the NHS.

The 5th May will be an interesting day.

The councils going to the polls are mainly leafy green shire counties and the LDs are hoping to pick up some of the seats they lost when they were in coalition and have hopes in the West of England mayoral election.

Labour should win most of the rest. They're hot favourites in Liverpool, but it won't be the walk in the park they were expecting. The Labour candidate is a close ally of Corbyn and there was some controversy about his selection.

As stated above, Labour will almost certainly win Gorton,but the swing to the LibDems will be interesting.If Labour loses Gorton, somebody really should put Corbyn on a one way excursion to the moon!

The next by election will probably be Leigh, assuming Andy Burnham wins the Manchester mayoral election. Labour is predicted to hold it and should be breathing a sigh of relief that Ukip seems to have committed suicide.

The Opinium poll, the one which puts Conservatives at only 9% ahead of Labour is very much out of line with all the others. It could be a blip and can't be taken seriously until there are more polls to see if it's part of a trend.

Labour is still odds on favourite to win the Gorton by election. However, the LibDems are predicted to win about 30% of the votes (up from 4% in 2015). Word from grassroots is that many Labour voters are appalled at Labour's flip flopping about Brexit and the three line whip. Corbyn is a factor. Galloway will also mop up a few thousand votes.

Gorton is the ninth safest Labour seat in the country, but it won't be for much longer.

Taking the postings on a Facebook page as an indication of popularity isn't exactly scientific. Kim Kardashian has, apparently, 5m Facebook "friends" does that mean she should be considered for PM or President? (and please let's not have the obvious comments "she would be better than Trump")

Npe. The current YouGov poll has the Conservaties 21 points ahead of Labour.

Yes, Fitzy, I saw the poll with Labour only 9 points behind. I think it was yougov, which was surprising as it was set up by a Tory and lots of Tory MPs get paid for going on it. I'm sure Labour ones do as well, but Tories seem to get a lot of money for filling in polls.

You are an unelected bigot who is hellbent on destroying, peace, security, friendship, compassion and economic wellbeing in the name of personal power and party unity. How dare you presume to patronise this country like this? And as for “coming together”… you have created the divisions, you are fuelling them and you personify them. If you had a shred of humility you would see yourself for what you are, a weak, ignorant would be demagogue. You are being weighed, you are being measured and you are being found wanting.”
