Labour now

What these people have to say about Labour as it is now struck cords with me.

Peter Hurst (@peterleohurst)
'Blue labour types' right about 1thing: many trad Labour voters more conservative than many third wayers/centrists care to acknowledge.
2. That conservatism with a small 'c' includes things like loving the royal family and being proud of being British. Social dems might not
3. win via 'riding the tiger of nationalism' but they wont win via the old 'New' Labour formulation either. The 5 million voters lost
4. During the years 1997-2010 are not going to return to a party that is, in effect, the lib dems in drag Iain. prospectmagazine.co.uk/magazine/labou…

I have noticed that Westminster does appear to believe that the only function of the north is to reliably vote Labour. And we don't now.
For as long as UKIP, the Labour left and fringe batshittery is the only alternative to Lab up here the Tories will clean up.
'Why would working class people vote Tory'. Because they cant vote Labour and the alternative is UKIP. In a nutshell.
One of the striking things about the left is this shock at working class tories, and working class people who dont want their revolution.

The photo is Hurst's Twitter profile. What it says seems well put too.

" POGS there is always "Mrs do as you would be done by" as well."

Hmm.

Perhaps if I abide by that saying I would be entitled to use the word 'hate/hated ' when talking about Left Wing voters who seem to find it fair game to use the word against anybody who votes Conservative. I would never do that so I won't be bothering in this instance but thank you for the advice.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 14-Mar-17 15:19:30

My mistake POGS. So who was the person it referred to?

GracesGranMK2 Tue 14-Mar-17 15:18:25

If people do stop voting Labour I wonder how the parties will split - in terms of support not the parties themselves - and if any more new parties will appear. If Labour started to disappear it would, I think, affect views of the Conservative Party. We could have a completely different set of parties on offer in five years (or less) time.

My worry is not about one party but whether we pay enough to get good enough people to run each and every one of them.

Anniebach Tue 14-Mar-17 15:18:05

Thank you Ana, wonder if he will have to write more letters saying - I am very cross you ignored the whip, really very , very cross. That scared them last time.

Ana Tue 14-Mar-17 15:13:40

No, Annie, he was too busy whipping his MPs into line - must have taken longer than he thought!

POGS Tue 14-Mar-17 15:12:56

" Don't be so unkind to AB POGS. "

Oh, I don't think Anniebach displays such a lack of perception as to the reason behind my post and to whom it referred .

trisher Tue 14-Mar-17 15:11:02

Have I defended him ? I don't think I have, only commented on what might have been posted. It's nothing to do with Corbyn more a comment on some people and their opinions.
POGS another one comes to mind "Would the Lord the gift a gie us..."

Anniebach Tue 14-Mar-17 14:52:35

Trisha I know I said there would be strong defence of his actions but you have surpassed my expectations, it was the fault of those who critcise him who are responsible for him not bothering to turn up after his rallying call on Twitter ?

I thought he may have mislaid his diary grin

trisher Tue 14-Mar-17 14:47:29

Ah but if he had turned up it would be another opportunity to warn about Momentum and the secret (or not so secret) plot to take over the Labour Party.
POGS there is always "Mrs do as you would be done by" as well.

GracesGranMK2 Tue 14-Mar-17 14:38:20

Don't be so unkind to AB POGS.

Anniebach Tue 14-Mar-17 14:05:29

Great leaders come in all types, some are good, some are really not. confused

POGS Tue 14-Mar-17 13:54:47

Flipping heck the terms ' practice what you preach' and 'do as I say not do as I do' come to mind.

Anniebach Tue 14-Mar-17 13:46:19

Criticism of a politician no matter the party is acceptable, constant criticising of posters is ill mannered

GracesGranMK2 Tue 14-Mar-17 13:26:58

Sorry Nightowl, I missed your post because of a ring at the door. I think that sad picture really does sum up this thread.

I'm not really bothered about JC - great leaders come in all types and some are good, some are really not. There are also leaders who fill an interim or a change period but whatever the role JC plays, I am happy to wait and see.

What I am interested in is where the party stands and what they are offering and I have seen some really good people coming forward recently - not the usual faces. They seem to be on top of their brief and voicing interesting suggestions. Perhaps those who only want to talk about Mr Corbyn could have a separate "slag off Corbyn" thread so that those of us who want to understand the thinking going on in and around Labour at the moment could avoid it? All the personal attacks on him are just tedious.

Anniebach Tue 14-Mar-17 12:43:13

Good grief, he has lost the plot, you vote for it whilst I demonstrate against it , that's leadership, that is tumbleweed

Thank you Ana

I await the strong defence for his actions,

You'll like this, Annie!

nightowl Tue 14-Mar-17 12:26:03

I was referring to this thread though petra, not the Labour Party confused

Anniebach Tue 14-Mar-17 12:17:11

grin thank you Petra, I couldn't see it

petra Tue 14-Mar-17 12:04:48

Annie Its tumbleweed.

Anniebach Tue 14-Mar-17 11:52:58

What is it?

petra Tue 14-Mar-17 11:50:26

Nightowl soooo good, says it all. My OH laughed and he's a Labour Party member.
It's bad, isn't it when someone like the OH who could no more vote anything other than labour laughs at your picture.

nightowl Tue 14-Mar-17 11:39:22

For you GG

petra Tue 14-Mar-17 10:47:49

Annie it tells me that not that many migrant workers are believing the hype, Re being kicked out of the uk. The numbers speak for themselves.

Anniebach Tue 14-Mar-17 10:28:15

If only 150 marched for workers rights what does this tell us ?

Anniebach Tue 14-Mar-17 10:02:42

Strange only 150 at a momentum rally with Corbyn as the main attraction Chewbacca
