Why do some think that if one party doesnt have the answer, the other one must do!!!!!!!!! That is so not logical.
You should all feel very proud (imho)
What these people have to say about Labour as it is now struck cords with me.
Peter Hurst (@peterleohurst)
'Blue labour types' right about 1thing: many trad Labour voters more conservative than many third wayers/centrists care to acknowledge.
2. That conservatism with a small 'c' includes things like loving the royal family and being proud of being British. Social dems might not
3. win via 'riding the tiger of nationalism' but they wont win via the old 'New' Labour formulation either. The 5 million voters lost
4. During the years 1997-2010 are not going to return to a party that is, in effect, the lib dems in drag Iain. prospectmagazine.co.uk/magazine/labou…

I have noticed that Westminster does appear to believe that the only function of the north is to reliably vote Labour. And we don't now.
For as long as UKIP, the Labour left and fringe batshittery is the only alternative to Lab up here the Tories will clean up.
'Why would working class people vote Tory'. Because they cant vote Labour and the alternative is UKIP. In a nutshell.
One of the striking things about the left is this shock at working class tories, and working class people who dont want their revolution.
The photo is Hurst's Twitter profile. What it says seems well put too.

Who says they do? I'm afraid it's your argument/question which isn't logical - not that logic has much to do with entrenched viewpoints.
Independent candidates are almost invariably NIMBYs. They are interested in one or two issues, but don't have any interest in a rounded view.
dj post 11.53am
and I am a floating voter so hardly entrenched! [only 1 1/2 more years to go.........]
There are countless posts informing Corbyn is going to save the NHS, schools, care in the community, rail transport, benefit payments, affordable housing, the environment etc, this is logical
Until what?
If people from different parties can work together on GN, why not in real life?

So what a lot of people want in my opinion. A person who will fight for your particular area. How wonderful!
Agree that in the first instance in parliament, they would struggle a bit, but so do a lot of new MPs it seems.
dj, you call the news and politics board, gransnetters working together?!!!
I didn't claim LibDems are doing anything dj (apart from pushing the 'Unite for Europe' march to Parliament on 25th March).
Rumours are that some Labour MPs don't think Gorton is safe. I expect it's nonsense, because Gorton is the 9th safest seat in the country, but there's certainly 'trouble at mill' (well, not at the mill, because there aren't many left).

PS. It's obvious many Labour MPs are working hard to talk to and listen to their constituents. They're keeping themselves away from the factional in-fighting and not jostling for leadership positions. I hope they hang on to their seats, because they deserve it, but the media (and public outside their constituency) isn't generally interested in workhorses.
PPS. The Manchester Evening News is owned by Trinity Mirror and is left-leaning.

An interesting list.

You say you are a non Labour Supporter you obviously do not think the political party you would vote for will 'change anything looking toward the future'.
Did I really say I was a "non Labour Supporter"? I thought I said I was not a Labour supporter and I am reasonably sure they really don't mean anything like the same thing. I can't see any logic in what you say and your twist on what I said about myself seems to be at the root of it.

4th industrial revolution? Not convinced one is coming, so no answer for that either, as dont even think it may happen really.
Really? We already happily discuss the Gig economy and the Platform economy because they are here and both robotisation and AI are displacing jobs in both the unskilled and skilled areas. I would say it is happening already Ankers but do keep your eyes closed if you don't want to believe it.
There is much talk of the Basic Income and a fifteen hour working week has been mooted. Change is constant and a tide you cannot hold it back but you can make it work for the many rather than the few.
GGMk2 Dinna fash yersel as we say, autrement dit, "Don't worry"
If Ankers is not minded to see a 4th Industrial Revolution coming, and *doesn't think it will happen, really^ there is clearly nothing to worry about.
If that is all it takes for a "revolution" then I myself very underwhelmed.
As you say, change is constant.
And as for "worrying" about something?
I do find some posters soooooo very negative. All the time. Count your blessing people do, before your own finishes.
You live the same life whether positive or negative. There is really so so much to be positive about. Even in your own lives right now.
I an going to bow out of the politics threads for a bit.
Get a grip people.
Your life is passing you by, while you moan moan moan.
Who said anything about being negative? (Apart from you)

I know it's about trump, but I thought it might cheer Ankers up.
Or has she gone?
I think she has Jen but I am sure we will get an announcement when she comes back

I don't know about Shakespeare, it seems more like Lewis Carroll to me

I have to say I look forward to a 15 hour weeks and a Basic Income and everyone rating jobs by how much we need them (dustman more than bankers) rather than how much they can con demand from the system.
Agree with all of that, GracesGran.
I was appalled last week when I found out that there are 1.3 million people with learning disabilities, of whom 1.2 million are unemployed.
Hopefully they will all be employable in a basic income future. I've never met one who didn't want to work.
