You do realise that the DM is not considered a reliable source of news, so cannot be used as a reference on Wikipedia? So why bother reading it?

The Gaudian banned reliance on Wikipedia as a 'sole source' in 2014.

Don't you think the Daily Express is even more unreliable varian. And why do you presume people who read red tops online don't read the full spectrum of the press? What a ghastly snob you sound.

Back to the same old snobbery about DM. Ankers did not say this was her only source of information merely commented there was a lot of US news on there. Some people can't wait to criticise can they.

Mention of the DM's always good for a quick sneer and put-down.

Nevertheless, some of its articles are surprisingly good, and it's far funnier than the desperately earnest Guardian.

I read the Daily Mail every day. There I've said it.

However, I am not a "Daily Mail reader." I'm sensible and experienced enough to realise that some (not all) of the news articles are not all they seem (sometimes even blatant lies, at best with the DM spin put on them), but as long as we realise that, surely that's a good thing. I read it because, as Ana said, some of the articles are surprisingly good, the Saturday Essay being one example. Even if one doesn't agree with the content, surely we can accept that they're well written and argue with the points in our head. I often take issue with their perspective on, for example, immigration and their skewing of the facts to make a point, but I think that's healthy.

Meanwhile, back to the DM, just to check what's on the telly tonight.

Yes willsmadman I do realise the Express is probably even more unreliable than the DM, although as far as I know it has not yet been banned by Wikipedia.

I hope I am not a snob because I read a wide range of news sources but do not rate then all equally.

Has anyone said they do rate them equally? Wikipedia is open for anyone to add the most unsubstantiated information/ rubbish ... surely you don't ever consult that site for 'real' information, do you? You'd do better to stick to the Express ...at least they're good for a laugh.

I sometimes read the Express on line and I always find an article along the lines of "We're all gonna die, because of the heatwave/ flooding/ new ice age/hurricane winds", etc.
Have a look next time, I guarantee you'll see something like that.
