Scottish Referendum Autumn 2018 - Spring 2019

So will it go ahead?

I know there is another thread on the subject but that thread is a call for Scots to say 'Yes'.

It looks more likely there will be a 2nd Referendum and Nicola Sturgeon appears to be 'declaring' it is 'definately' her intention by stating the period she wants it to take place between Autumn 2018 - Spring 2019.

Is anybody surprised?

Lord knows interesting times.

The effect is still virtual broken teeth and split lip, SAAK - for the majority of Scots who voted to atay in the United Kingdom with their relations and friends and colleagues as well as those who would like to go it alone.

When/if the longed-for independence happens, the Scots and the rest of the Union will have to live, work, socialise and marry together. Brutalities from either supporters will be remembered and poison the relatiuonship for decades. Neither camp should be punching or butting others in the teeth.

Have you ever heard the saying "You catch more flies with syrup than with vinegar" ?

I've lived a sheltered life ana wink

grin I presume it was Elgrans way of saying that I don't pull my punches and say things in a very plain way rather than actually go around head butting people.

Everyone is entitled to write things the way they want. Some people "fluff" it up and some people are blunt and forthright.

I think I referred to it on another thread
Often accompanied by 'See yew Jimmy' - apparently, according to someone I know

I'm shocked, jane! I thought everyone knew what a Glasgow Kiss was...grin

janeainsworth Sat 18-Mar-17 20:51:24

I had to google Glaswegian kiss elegran grin

stillaliveandkicking Sat 18-Mar-17 20:20:20

Glad to hear it Fitzy.

Fitzy54 Sat 18-Mar-17 20:07:51

Saak I wouldn't attack anything you said in you 19.58 post. A perfectly reasonable point of view and I'm happy to just leave this little aside there.

stillaliveandkicking Sat 18-Mar-17 20:02:05

Just keeping it real Elgran smile

Elegran Sat 18-Mar-17 20:01:21

With a Glaswegian mother you will be familiar with the Glasgow kiss, SAAK. You certainly know how to administer one!

stillaliveandkicking Sat 18-Mar-17 19:58:28

Ha, attacked of course. Please refrain from this, my experiences have been different from some of you. I am very allowed to voice this without others becoming personal. Im also all for democracy and if the Scots want a referendum then so be it. Fine by me. It will show whether they still want to be in the UK or not. Then maybe we can get on with the business of Brexit without NS banging on and on and on, hindering the process.

Fitzy54 Sat 18-Mar-17 19:58:12

Saak you have just told all Scots to b****r off up north. If that reflects what you say about them generally why wouldn't they moan about you? But seriously, you may have been unlucky in knowing only a couple of Scots living in England and they happen to be anti -English. Hardly a statistically reliable sample?

stillaliveandkicking Sat 18-Mar-17 19:40:18

I speak as I find whitewave.

stillaliveandkicking Sat 18-Mar-17 19:39:22

Why aren't you surprised they moan about me then Fitzy? Have I personally attached you? No. I have had a different experience than you then.

Fitzy54 Sat 18-Mar-17 19:17:17

Sorry stillalive - got your name wrong!

whitewave Sat 18-Mar-17 19:16:27

That was to saak

whitewave Sat 18-Mar-17 19:15:44

Charming

Fitzy54 Sat 18-Mar-17 19:15:38

I work with loads of Scots and none of them moan about us. I'm not surprised they moan about you though Silver.

stillaliveandkicking Sat 18-Mar-17 19:04:19

I digress. Im also sick of Scots living in the UK and moaning about us. I have couple of dear friends who are married to Scots and all they do is berate us. Get the vote, hopefully its out of the UK. Make a life for yourselves in your beloved land smile

stillaliveandkicking Sat 18-Mar-17 19:01:38

Good, Im all for change. Totally sick of the government being so out of touch with real people. Watched the Lords programme and ended up laughing but not in a good way. Stupid old customs that cost the tax payers millions of pounds. Glad the building needs a refurb, hopefully all who's in there get one too and half of them never come back.

Fitzy54 Sat 18-Mar-17 19:01:35

SNP would be screaming for ex pat Scots to vote if they thought that would help them. There would be no problem proving birth in Scotland. You Scots outside Scotland should be campaigning for a vote next time.

whitewave Sat 18-Mar-17 18:49:34

My God - within 5 years the U.K. could be utterly changed and unrecognisable to the one we've lived with.

nigglynellie Sat 18-Mar-17 18:41:57

I suppose so Granny23, it does seem a bit hard though that if as a Scot, you have moved say for work for a given period you automatically don't get a vote. But I can see it would be difficult.
I was wonderinng what the SNP will make of Gordon Browns intervention?! I can't help but feel that its independence or nothing, but we shall see.

stillaliveandkicking Sat 18-Mar-17 18:30:24

My mum was a Glaswegian so I guess I have a bit of Scots in me. I think that Scotland should be able to have another referendum, why not. But if they decide to leave the UK then leave they do. Sort things out for once and for all. NS is a nutter though.

GillT57 Sat 18-Mar-17 18:13:55

Unless granny23 they are Sean Connery and love Scotland so much that they live in Spain....but still stick their nose in.
