I cannot believe today has happened. That we have actually done something so momentous based on so little sense and initiated by a second-class politician who will go down in history as one of the most disastrous prime ministers we have been unfortunate to have suffered. It's no wonder those outside of the UK cannot understand what on earth we're doing. I can only apologise to my grandchildren.

I will try and see the Corbyn and Neil discussion Jalima of course he was really lukewarm about staying in the EU anyway, but no doubt his vision of Britain will be different to T May.

Sorry - Tim Farron. Yes Corbyn is talking sense and Keir Starmer too. Hope Labour will get a grip of the issues now. We all need an effective opposition to hold the government to account in this Brexit process.

Tim Fallen says we can withdraw Article 50 at any time. So might Theresa May's "no deal is better than a bad deal" mean if there's no deal we can decide to revoke Article 50 and stay in the EU? It seems unlikely with the government's gung ho attitude but maybe... a year or so down the line?

By the way, did you notice that May wants a democratic liberal Britain?
Is she in the wrong party?

The vote to leave the EU was a democratic vote and the UK voted to leave. Did those who voted to remain really think the result would be overturned just because they wanted it to.?

Glad to hear that we will do the right thing and pay what we are obliged to pay.

I remember you mentioning that 'pm' roses! Sounded quite unpleasant!

We know the country has become divided over Brexit, but you would imagine that people of our age could talk about it without being rude/dismissive to anyone else who doesn't hold their own views.
Today has been the nastiest of all on here, perhaps because it has sunk in that there won't be a last minute reprieve, and we really are leaving the EU.
Maybe things will calm down in a week or so.

Brexiters are now also coming to realise that the economy beats immigration and all the other take back control lies. The economy was the only thing mentioned in May's speech.

May discussing using EU citizens in Uk as bargaining chips at the moment with Andrew Neil.
