That poor man's injuries may not be "life changing" in the physical sense but I bet they are life changing in just about every other way.

Daphne I do remember that Mr Cameron spent a long time going around Europe talking to and being ignored by all the heads of state. But I can't for the life of me remember what he did come back with! (I'm on rather a lot of pain killers at the moment) Seriously! What did he achieve?

Azie I too was horrified by the story you posted the link. I do hope the perpetrators are caught and punished and that Mr Singh makes a full recovery.

But, as you say, it is not normal and that is why we are shocked when we hear about things like that.

They attacked a Polish boy first, then attacked a Sikh shop keeper who went to protect him.
They drove fast at the shopkeeper, then reversed over him.
That's just normal,everyday happening, is it? Not in my world.
Bet it's not normal in the Home Counties, either.

How many foreign ( or British born Asian) shopkeepers are attacked year on year? Quite a few, long before Brexit.Do not blame all bar the weather on us leaving the EU.

Today has not been all good. On another forum I have read some awful posts but can I say thank you to those on both sides who have taken great trouble to explain how and why they feel what they feel in such a measured way.

'silly little country''?!! I don't think so!! How dismissive is that! No, we who voted to leave do not want this country to go back to the 1930's in any way whatsoever,even I wasn't born then!! We on here are not Xenophobic, homophobic, or anything else of that nature. However we all do feel sincerely that this country will fare much better outside that lumbering outdated oppressive collossus that the EU has become and the worry about what it may well become.

It's the start of something good ( which is what many who voted Leave think) not at all this 'Little Britain' stuff/ gloom/doom/end of the world scenario.
Even those who voted Remain, were ( many of them) not so in love with the EU that they were blinded to all the faults.The EU could have avoided this by giving Cameron something substantial to bring back before the referendum, but it was pitiful and he came back with nothing, which was the beginning of the end and why so many voted to Leave.

I am so sad today. I've been occasionally reading but mostly avoiding threads about Brexit because I can't believe how many people in this country are closet xenophobes who would rather resurrect 1930s style nationalism than embrace a world where cooperation and peaceful coexistence are going to be key in a difficult future concerned with climate change, a rising world population and increasing pressure on diminishing resources.

We have aggressive politics taking over in the US, Russia and China (who today were reported to be arming the artificial islands they have constructed in the South China Seas), this silly little country has no power and never will have again. Instead of cooperating with our nearest neighbours we have constructed an absurd edifice to cover up the failure of David Cameron to control Eurosceptics within the Tory party.

But actually what really seals my despair is this, which happened yesterday where I live and it is a direct result of Brexit and what has been unleashed as a result. I no longer want to be part of this society.

I agree, varian. Not only will Great Britain become Little Britain, May also said it would be a Global Britain.
She appears to have forgotten that she called global citizens citizens of nowhere. Nowhere Britain, eh?

This day will almost certainly go down in history as a very sad day for Europe, and for the world but a catastrophically bad day for our country. The day when Great Britain started to become Little Britain.

I am not someone who has quietly accepted that the so-called "will of the people", (37% of those eligible to vote in an advisory referendum), has to be acted on no matter how much damage it might do.

I do accept that it is unlikely that we can remain in the European Union which has benefited us all so much in our lifetimes, but we must do everything in our power to prevent our children and grandchildren's future being damaged for the wrong political ends.

People should listen to Lord Kerr, the legal expert who wrote Article 50. It may be very difficult to stop it, but it could be stopped.
