His body language gave more away than he did there, daphne.

30-40% tariffs on dairy and meat, eh?

daphnedill Mon 20-Mar-17 22:23:14

Unfortunately, Davis doesn't have any idea either:

:-(

Let's just wait and see shall we? All this hysteria being whipped up encouraging fear when we have no idea of any details. All this talk about loosing grants, Mostly grants we paid for in the first place. Let's just wait and see.

They will all be requisitioned by Brussels after Brexit Ana so we must make the most of them while they are allowed to fly free.

Ana Mon 20-Mar-17 22:12:07

What about balloonists? And drones? And pigeons?

Welshwife Mon 20-Mar-17 22:10:14

It looks as if we will stop having access to the open skies which will have a huge impact on airlines and flights and particularly for BA who are likely to lose a lot of airport slots.

rosesarered Mon 20-Mar-17 21:14:56

The hysteria? It could well get a lot worse.

Cindersdad Mon 20-Mar-17 20:38:32

They know not what they do!

Labour seems intent of self destruction!

Can it get any worse?

durhamjen Mon 20-Mar-17 19:51:47

Hopefully he will not be an ally for much longer if anything comes of his links with Russia.

GillT57 Mon 20-Mar-17 19:33:59

I assume that those in support of this are busy compiling a list of future advantages for me to browse at will as I ponder the future in an isolated Britain. The moron Trump has completely withdrawn arts funding too Trisher, what a great person to have as an ally.

trisher Mon 20-Mar-17 15:33:38

Can I add GillT57 end of support for arts programmes which nurture young talent, withdrawal of funding for historic building development. The list is endless and we will be poorer in so many areas.

GillT57 Mon 20-Mar-17 15:28:19

Yes, might as well have done it on April 1st, All Fools Day. We will be the laughing stock. So, all of you who are applauding this leap into the unknown, what are you hoping for? No platitudes about taking back control, just, what would you like to see happen? I am curious. People being stopped in the street and asked for their permits? Cancellation of EHIC cards to stop the foreigners coming here for NHS treatment? Cancellation of Erasmus programme to stop pesky students studying overseas. I would love to hear just what those who voted to leave would now like to see happen. Not being snarky, just curious.

trisher Mon 20-Mar-17 14:49:04

Should have left it a few days she could have done it on April 1st, seems more appropriate

At last

durhamjen Mon 20-Mar-17 14:19:41

Then comes the great repeal bill, which gives us all the EU law we want.

Jane10 Mon 20-Mar-17 14:01:06

Might as well get on with it and get as good a deal as possible. Pity it has to be done but that's democracy for you!

angelab Mon 20-Mar-17 13:37:43

I think this is an essentially contentless statement designed to make everyone feel good.

rosesarered Mon 20-Mar-17 12:50:03

Presumably he is saying the Governmentwill do it's best to get a good deal that will suit both the UK and the EU.Called compromise.

rosesarered Mon 20-Mar-17 12:47:43

smile

Ana Mon 20-Mar-17 12:43:37

Ana Mon 20-Mar-17 12:42:44

Hear, hear Teetime

Anya Mon 20-Mar-17 12:42:15

Teetime Mon 20-Mar-17 12:40:51

Good lets get on with it.

Welshwife Mon 20-Mar-17 12:24:57

Utopia!

Quoting breaking news in the Guardian. Davis is quoted as saying...

“The government is clear in its aims: a deal that works for every nation and region of the UK and indeed for all of Europe – a new, positive partnership between the UK and our friends and allies in the European Union.”

Feeling a bit in shock at those words, as at no time have I felt they are at all clear in their aims. The regions of the UK are disaparate with very different needs and fears. The nations of the UK have very different views of what is best for them, Scotland in particular being very forthright in stating their opposition to what is planned. Finally, what can he possibly mean by a deal that is good for all of Europe? Is he cynically saying EU members will be glad to see the back of us?
