Brexit all done and dusted?

As an arch REMOANER I for one (of many) will not simply roll over and say that is that. As things progress at the very least parliament must ensure that the country does not Brexit in a bad way because of "The Will of the People". So many lies were told by both side at the time of referendum that when the full facts come to light a re-think should be considered.

I have yet to hear a sound reason for voting LEAVE. Of course the EU is far from perfect but we are better trying to change it from within than sniping from outside. A general election or second referendum before the point of absolute no return.

I happen to be visiting Brussels on an educational trip after Easter so until then I will put up and shut up unless really provoked.

Maybe psychophone means someone who sounds like a nutcase? There are certainly somne of those on GN.

Or a murderous phone stalker?

There's a word sycophant which means someone who sucks up to other people to get in their good books.
Then there's psychopath which is hard to define, maybe someone without a conscience.

And David Davis said that he had no idea how much it was and wouldn't tell us if he did!

Re The Exit Fee: On Question Time last night, Rebecca Long Bailey made a very good point. She said that if we are not seen as a country that honours our obligations, then countries outside the EU would be reluctant to get into trade deals with us. We have to preserve a good reputation as an honest country.

NFK, just seen your post.

Doesn't sound terribly tyrannical to me Daphne. On that basis we're all subject to tryanny. Londoners for example. Welsh speakers. Pensioners. Billionaires. Supermodels. Cornishmen. Cornish women. People from Cornwall. Gransnetters. We're all members of any number of minorities. In any event all much better than tyranny by a minority.

daphnedill Fri 05-May-17 07:58:46

Ah well! That explains it FarNorth (maybe hmm)

daphnedill Fri 05-May-17 07:56:33

That's the "tyranny of the majority" Fitzy. Everybody gets an equal say, but if there is an inbuilt majority for one group, the bigger group will inevitably win and the rights of the minority group will be ignored.

Every Scottish MP gets a vote in Parliament. Same as all the other MPs. I suggest you ask all the people who loaned us the money which country the lent it to.

FarNorth Fri 05-May-17 07:46:21

Here's what I found by googling :

Psychophony (from the Greek psyke, soul and phone, sound, voice) is the name given by Spiritism and some other spiritualist traditions to the phenomenon where, according to them, a spirit talks using the voice of a medium.

FarNorth Fri 05-May-17 07:37:31

Fitzy54 there are 59 Scottish MPs and 591 non-Scottish MPs. The Scottish MPs have very little say in any decisions made in parliament.
The UK is not one country - Scotland and England are already separate countries which formed a union.

Nfk I don't think our debts will be based on a 28th of anything - I think it will be related to our population size and we're one of the larger countries population wise.

Perhaps DJ has a link to explain why the (up to) 50 billion which has been bandied about for so long has suddenly doubled? Suddenly we're going to get a bill of 100 billion. Of course, for several years we will have to pay what we owe - our 28th share of all the present pensions, schemes we've underwritten to contribute to - but that should be somewhat offset by the amount the EU is contracted to pay to us. It shouldn't take long for the accountants to work out. I'm sure the figures are all up to date!

Still being mean then jen? It was a play on the word psychophant which is in the urban dictionary. I said psychophonic as a play on words thinking most would get it, clearly not. Some people that don't get their "own way' in life have to bang on and try to make others feel inferior.

Get over yourself durhamjen, we are leaving the EU whether you are the naysayer that isn't on board for a new beginning or not.

swats the fly again

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 23:44:51

She doesn't know what it means, then, Welshwife.
Not Alice, then.

Welshwife Thu 04-May-17 23:37:44

grin

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 23:36:45

Time for me to leave for now as you're both being wickedly silly you minxes grin

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 23:34:00

grin are you trying to be a bit of a mean girl jen?

durhamjen Thu 04-May-17 23:33:03

Welshwife, it must mean something to do with making far too much noise.

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 23:30:42

Forgotten what? Are being a bit of a pendant. I made up a word that for me meant something. I'm sure if you googled it you would have come up with a very likely comparison or got the gist.

Welshwife Thu 04-May-17 23:21:42

But you cannot put the meaning down? Have you forgotten already?

stillaliveandkicking Thu 04-May-17 23:15:44

I googled it grin
