Banks moving jobs because of Brexit.

I think POGS that it is true that you cannot blame Brexit for all the problems of a post-industrial society where, in essence, there are too many people and not enough jobs. What you can say, is that in times of huge economic uncertainty when the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, Brexit is a major distraction and leaving a large market on the doorstep of the UK, for a massively uncertain future is a very bad idea.

I mentioned Macron visiting the Whirlpool Factory at Amien previously but this is an interesting statement he made.

“Banning the payment of dividends or forbidding a company from closing a site it has decided to close is not possible, would even be counterproductive,” he said. “Why? Because there is a freedom of enterprise and free property in our democracy,” he said. "So on that, I won’t bring an answer because it’s not true. I get fed up with the single minded view, every angle that can be 'used' to blame Brexit , is used without any credence there is another possible / feasable answer or line of thought.

No, petra, I did not forget to mention that BNP Paribas are cutting jobs in France and Luxembourg as well as the uk. And, that they started to cut jobs in May 2016, one month before the referendum. That was not my point. I believe DB, BNP, etc are leaving for many reasons related to profits, not Brexit. Wages, costs, etc are causing moves to lower cost countries.

Cadbury's happened before Brexit. Nobody is blaming what happened at Cadbury's and Kraft on Brexit.
It is therefore pointless to bring up Cadbury's in this context.

Big companies make money by moving factories to where production is cheaper at that time, in the same way as big banks do by moving money around to catch good interest rates. It's been happening for years, but at present Brexit is getting the blame.

What was the point of POGS mentioning Cadbury's? She herself said that they cut jobs before the referendum and Brexit.

All quiet on the Western Front.Of course anything and everything is being blamed on Brexit, and there could well be some job losses because firms need to be in EU countries, but firms relocate mainly for costs, they can do things more cheaply in Eastern Europe.As POGS has just shown, EU countries themselves suffer losses because of it.

However, I don't think these jobs are the backbone to the economy.

This is not directly caused by Brexit but by lack of spending on the NHS.

Well just look at Cadburys.

It was nothing to do with Brexit. They too were making job losses prior to the EU Referendum and Brexit.

I am not saying there is /will not be related job losses because of the UK leaving the European Union. For all I know today Nestle could come out and say 'Yep, it was Brexit that caused it'. I still have not seen Nestle state that is the case.

It is not only the UK but other EU countries are experiencing job losses, not to do with Brexit, because factories are moving to lower wage countries such as Poland, Hungary, Romania, Cuba, Asia.

Sometimes Brexit is still being used as 'Project Fear' and it becomes meaningless at times.

What's that to do with Nestle closing factories and making redundancies in York and Newcastle?
We don't want to be part of Europe any more.
We want to stand on our own feet, take back control.

May said she'd talked to the bosses at Nestle and the DWP would go to talk to workers being laid off.
York's a strange constituency. It has two MPs, one for inner York and one for outer. It's called the doughnut.
Inner has a labour MP, outer a Tory. Most of the people I know who work there live in outer. They won't be happy.
