Brexit all done and dusted?

As an arch REMOANER I for one (of many) will not simply roll over and say that is that. As things progress at the very least parliament must ensure that the country does not Brexit in a bad way because of "The Will of the People". So many lies were told by both side at the time of referendum that when the full facts come to light a re-think should be considered.

I have yet to hear a sound reason for voting LEAVE. Of course the EU is far from perfect but we are better trying to change it from within than sniping from outside. A general election or second referendum before the point of absolute no return.

I happen to be visiting Brussels on an educational trip after Easter so until then I will put up and shut up unless really provoked.

Lots of other financial institutions on the move.

I still don't think the Nestle move is primarily a Brexit issue. But I think we are going to have a lot of unemployed financial services (ex)employees. Actually many of the very best are looking at Hong Kong and other parts of S.E.Asia rather than Europe. London is losing its shine. We need to get these negotiations over asap and make sure we prioritise the industry without which so many other things we need will fall apart. I'm afraid it isn't Jeremy Corbyn that we need to look to as the saviour of the NHS - it's the wicked bankers and all the tax their industry generates.

A post by Norah at 20.04 stated that this company were leaving the uk. I can't find any information on this but will be more than happy to apologise if I'm wrong grin

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 22:08:37

care to elaborate on that strange comment petra?

petra Wed 26-Apr-17 22:03:55

Norah Fake news: BNP Paribus leaving London.

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 20:45:48

Do you moaners not want to be part of a democratic society? Would you rather a dictatorship? Your way or else? Have you never taken a risk in life? I'm delighted that things will change and I'm willing to take the rough with the smooth too. The EU is a bureaucratic dictatorship. If you can't see that then maybe you need a bit more sleep durham.

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 20:37:02

Oh that link looks negative, let me post it grin

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 20:35:18

You may get up early but you remind me of that little fella from Gullivers travels. All he ever repeated was "you'll never make it"

durhamjen Wed 26-Apr-17 20:33:38

Up with the birds, saaki, quite bright and chirpy.

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 20:31:34

So you know it isn't then durham. I wonder how people with your negative attitude even manage to get out of bed in the mornings.

durhamjen Wed 26-Apr-17 20:27:45

Quite shocked at how many people still think everything's going to be okay.

stillaliveandkicking Wed 26-Apr-17 20:25:53

People will leave and other opportunities will be gained. It's never been done before has it. So sick of remoaning negative people. Quite shocked at how many people have such mindsets.

rosesarered Wed 26-Apr-17 20:12:30

Companies have been relocating to cheaper countries for years, sometimes this fact gets mixed up with companies having to be in an EU country.

rosesarered Wed 26-Apr-17 20:10:40

We will be out soon varian.
Why must people always assume others were misled, because they have different views, it's curious.

varian Wed 26-Apr-17 20:07:35

We are not out yet Roses and I hope we never will be, although I realise it is a pretty faint hope as there are so many vested interests involved, especially the right wing gutter press.

If we do leave, as I think is likely, I wonder how long it will take for the well-meaning leave voters, who believed a pack of lies (not just the one on the bus) will take to realise they were misled.

Norah Wed 26-Apr-17 20:04:07

I read BNP Paribus has a good bit of staff leaving London for the less expensive countries.

whitewave Wed 26-Apr-17 20:00:29

rose tell that to someone who will lose their job. Thank was an incredibly heartless thing to say.

Norah Wed 26-Apr-17 19:59:36

Deutsche Bank stock is doing well, probably they are moving on whilst things are good?

rosesarered Wed 26-Apr-17 19:58:15

varian you make a good case for the Lib Dems on GN ( in fact, they should pay you!) but you do seem unable to accept the fact that we are leaving the EU.
I don't think leavers think they have made a mistake at all, and all the ones that I know are very happy about things. You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs.

varian Wed 26-Apr-17 19:48:29

How many UK jobs and businesses do we have to lose before the leavers realise they might have made a big mistake?

petra Wed 26-Apr-17 19:45:28

More good news for Poland ( but not for the French) Whirlpool have shut their French factory and moved it to Poland.

rosesarered Wed 26-Apr-17 19:45:22

If we are out of the EU then there are bound to be some companies who have to be situated in countries that are in the EU.So far not enough loss of jobs to anyone from UK to be worrying.

Welshwife Wed 26-Apr-17 19:38:31

I saw a report today that Deutsche Bank are talking about locating 2,000 jobs from London to Germany and possibly 4,000. Other banks are still thought to be planning similar cuts in UK and the total number is a disaster - something like100K.
