Brexit all done and dusted?

As an arch REMOANER I for one (of many) will not simply roll over and say that is that. As things progress at the very least parliament must ensure that the country does not Brexit in a bad way because of "The Will of the People". So many lies were told by both side at the time of referendum that when the full facts come to light a re-think should be considered.

I have yet to hear a sound reason for voting LEAVE. Of course the EU is far from perfect but we are better trying to change it from within than sniping from outside. A general election or second referendum before the point of absolute no return.

I happen to be visiting Brussels on an educational trip after Easter so until then I will put up and shut up unless really provoked.

Annie you're right, I don't think the black cap is a hard hat at all - there's a gap at the back as well. But I think the other two are.

Ana Mon 17-Apr-17 15:19:39

If all three of them had said 'Happy Easter, folks!' Theresa May would have been castigated for not being serious/inclusive enough, but Corby & Co's 'messages' would have gone down a storm...(so human, so sincere, what a prat etc.)

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Apr-17 15:18:57

not the Corbyn I meant 'that Corbyn'

[oh dear]

Jalima1108 Mon 17-Apr-17 15:18:31

I thought the Corbyn was an atheist, if that is correct it is surely his April holiday message, not Easter message?

Anniebach Mon 17-Apr-17 15:14:58

And apologies for returning to the hat, who has seen hard hats with creases in them?

nigglynellie Mon 17-Apr-17 15:13:56

Opinion or message?!!! F.goodness.S, talk about splitting hairs, what on earth is the difference?! Surely a message is your opinion, Your opinion when vocalised is your message!! It's up to people to either agree or not depending on your point of view. Why would you get all aerated about which of these it's called! confused

Anniebach Mon 17-Apr-17 15:13:14

It is speeches by oposition leaders which have led to a PM handing over the keys of No 10

whitewave Mon 17-Apr-17 13:52:37

Can someone tell me, how a speech by the PM, should be treated equally to a speech by the opposition. If you honestly believe that it carries equal weight I'd be interested if you could explain why you think so.

nigglynellie Mon 17-Apr-17 13:47:33

Sadly my parents died in their late twenties/early sixties, but I certainly take your point!! Attempts at being trendy was not one of my stepfather's characteristics thank goodness, lovely man as he was, the embarrassment would have been awful!!!!

rosesarered Mon 17-Apr-17 13:41:52

Political spin on Gransnet....haha! Easter opinions, that did make me laugh.
They are all Easter Messages, and the PM of the day is not making a manifesto but simply doing a heartening Easter message as are the other Leaders of Parties.
ab I think Corbyn suits his Lenin hat, he should stick with it.grin

Anniebach Mon 17-Apr-17 13:35:41

A hard hat? Good grief he is doing a George Osbourne and I have never seen such useless hard hats , good to keep dust of the curls I suppose

daphnedill Mon 17-Apr-17 13:02:10

It was Ana. He was visiting a train factory and he was wearing the hat for protection. All the other people in the pictures are wearing them too.

Ana Mon 17-Apr-17 12:52:17

I thought Corbyn was wearing a hard hat - at least that's what it said in the article I read.

Anniebach Mon 17-Apr-17 12:48:56

In my defence Niggly, Did your father wear a baseball cap in his late sixties? Not cheery opening an email to see the leader of the party one has worked hard for for over fifty years wearing a bloody baseball cap in a train loo. Good grief , does he think he has to copy Trump. His 'up the revolution ' cap was bad enough but a baseball cap , remember when William Hague wore one, he was forty and looked a prat .

nigglynellie Mon 17-Apr-17 12:25:57

You and that baseball cap anni!!!grin

whitewave Mon 17-Apr-17 11:51:48

Call the messages what you like pogs it doesn't detract from the fact that May is the only one in the position to act.

POGS Mon 17-Apr-17 11:04:59

I'm just amazed how it becomes so easy for what is known as Corbyn's Easter Message, Tim Farron's Easter Message to morph into 'Giving Opinons'. Hells bells who said political spin is dead and buried. confused

If Corbyn , Farron and May call it their Easter Message, their respective Parties call it their Easter Message , then it is their Easter Message.

DJ

As for your belief I made it look as though you had 'said a lot' if anybody reads the thread they will note who said what.

I did in fact clearly point out in my post what ' you ' said by saying " You yourself posted Alistair Campbell's who said :-

I'm sorry you thought I was attributing all the negative comments to yourself. I am happy to reiterate at the time of my post that has upset you, your contribution was the Alistair Campbell comments which you used to make one of your points.

Anniebach Mon 17-Apr-17 10:30:36

And criticising the PM will strengthen the oposition? Waste of time posting countless times a day May is wrong on this, that and the other . Untill we have a strong oposition with a chance of winning an election we are stuck with May, I am a realist Jen,

durhamjen Mon 17-Apr-17 10:25:41

So what's your problem, then? Why criticise those who do not have power, and not the person who does?
Unless you agree with her?

Anniebach Mon 17-Apr-17 10:13:49

Yes I know Jen , I do understand the powers of the PM and the strength or weaknesses of the oposition. Sadly the now government has only very weak oposition

durhamjen Mon 17-Apr-17 10:11:03

There is only ever one person able to carry out what s/he says at any one time. Even in the coalition government, the Libdems gave up most of their ideals, which is why they are in the position they are in now.

Anniebach Mon 17-Apr-17 10:06:37

True whitewave, two leaders with no ability to carry out their opinions and never will have , I have only despair in saying this.

durhamjen Mon 17-Apr-17 10:02:03

Unfortunately, whitewave. I quite like the opinions.

whitewave Mon 17-Apr-17 09:55:44

No annie one Easter Message with the ability to carry out that message - two political opinions from the opposition parties, with no ability to carry out their messages.

Anniebach Mon 17-Apr-17 09:52:21

So we had one Easter message and two Easter opinions from party leaders?
