The raffle to win a Manor House

Apologies if everyone has already debated this and I missed it !
So the man who is raffling off his manor house , grade 2 listed for £2 a ticket (In all the press) Now I know it's on the level and the raffle is being run correctly , I would have liked to have a punt on it, but on reading terms and condtions, I noted a sentence that said something like 'The seller is not responsible for any non ability to sell the property' or words to that effect, so does that mean if you won, you'd have a noose round your neck, unable to sell it on for a lower price than market value, yet still having to pay upkeep and probably high council tax ? That would just be my luck to win something that ended up COSTING me money !
Thoughts ??

I've just had a look at it and it looks cold and sounds 'echoey' so unless you're fairly well-heeled it could well become a millstone around your neck. I think I'll stick with my cosy little house.

As it's in my favourite part of the country, with a short drive to one of the best seafood restaurants ever, my entry's been in for a while!

Just beat me to it Badenkate

Violette the gaming/competition laws are a minefield, even for a simple raffle. He is getting round them by offering a free entry route. This is why all the competitions that ITV run have a free entry (by post).

And if you sold it on (or rather, if you ever managed to sell it on!) you'd probably be liable for capital gains tax.

Remember the old adage - if it looks too good to be true it probably is!

If you really do wish to enter there is a FREE postal entry oprtion too (I say free but obviously it would be the cost of your postcard and postage stamp)

It's been great reading everyone's opinions on the house !
MaizieD you asked what I'd do if I won ? Well I would sell the house for a cheap price, but first, I would invite family down, tell them to bring a sleeping bag and we'd have a nice party so everyone could say they stayed at 'My' manor house !!grin
Thanks for the link TizLiz it was interesting.
I was never bothered about losing £2 but I would want to be able to sell the house which was the reason for my original post ! Good luck to all you who have a go x
