In a first past the post democracy, elections and particularly this election means that more than half the country is never represented in the government. Indeed if you live in anything but a swing seat, you may never have the opportunity to vote for someone who represents you in Parliament.

My DF was a well known and very active member of the Labour Party here in Scotland. We hosted the likes of Sillars, Galloway, Carmichael and Brown, my DF fought with a passion for Labour and donated more than a few £s. Fastforward from the 1970's til now and he wont even have the name Corbyn mentioned in his house. He will always believe in Keir Hardie but after nearly 70 years as a Labour party Supporter He will not put a cross in the Labour box whilst Corbyn leads the party. How many thousands of Labour supporters feel the same ?

Alan Johnson was on Corbyns hit list , naturally those who support the far left are glad he stood down, another from the centre left gone. Who next for the Corbyn knife?

Even if you believe it is silly, asking for it to be 'stopped' is asking for a limit on freedom to speak the truth. I know we live in strange times where the truth is concerned but do you really think speaking the truth should be limited because you find it 'silly'.

I am not sure what you think should be 'stopped' Abonet and certainly not clear how you intend to 'stop' it. I will await the knock on the door as that sounds very threatening.

The country is coming together is Theresa's message. I cant decide if I agree with that or not.
Obviously not online as online is full of opposing opinions being voiced day in and day out, but the people not on online forums may be coming together once more.

I think that the most important thing that I am hoping will result from this election is the understanding that this country is utterly divided and therefore both halves must be given consideration in the Brexit outcome. A soft Brexit will I think be the most acceptable to the greatest number of people from both camps as well as business who have to thrive in the future.

To go through this election without understanding this will in my opinion be disastrous and so bad for democracy. It's going to be bad enough anyway with the majority ending up with a government they never voted for.

Quite apart from the major issues, I do enjoy a general election. I will stay up half the night watching the results come in. And it's often cynically enjoyable to see how badly the pollsters and pundits have got it all wrong.

I think Labour remainders won't forgive Corbyn's rolling over to Teresa May on Brexit. Another reason why they won't do well.

Well DJ, for once I did read Owen Jones in the Guardian, and in terms of the uphill task Labour face, I think he made a great deal of sense. But I really think this is going to be a disaster for them, with desertions not only by those who don't like the new leadership and it's lurch to the left, but also by the Labour Brexit supporters.
I'm not sure how I will vote myself, other than it won't be UKIP or Green!

An elderly member of the public was just interviewed, she said she hopes Corbyn loses then the party can have a new leader . I understand why she said this.
